I am relatively new to the quilting world and have only completed one simple quilt although I have many "in the making" and am curious if y'all have any recommendations on a nice iron and why that is your choice...also, a price range and where to find them would be great! Thanks in advance!

I just bought a sunbeam iron at Meijer (also Walmart carries them) very nice and my 2 friends got them so I had to get one, nice irons, $24.99.
|
I just use a plain old Walmart special. It works great for me.

here is the link online for $29.99 but you can get them in the store for $24.99 and also Walmart carries them

I have had a Rowenta (sp) and found my cheaper Wal-Mart buys where better irons. I use and take a $10.00 Black and Decker.

LoL, well I wondered if there really was a difference in the expensive ones I've seen at shops and the Wal Mart cheapies...just as I suspected, an iron is an iron is an iron! Thanks everyone! :-D

I like my $14 Walmart... no auto shut off and it works great :D:D:D
|
I had a Rowenta that had auto shutoff for less than 2 years - it broke :(
Bought another Rowenta with NO Auto shutoff (less expensive than first too) - it's over 2 years old now :) Just picked up another Rowenta NO shutoff at a rummage sale (cheap and clean!)- steams and heats - :) crossing fingers it'll last. |
Same thing with me. I thought I needed a Rowenta b/c of all the hype- total waste of money. I have a cheap one and love it.
|
I bought a Rowenta on sale at JoAnn's about five years ago - has an automatic shut off... it STILL works - There is a definite difference in my last $9.00 iron and this one. I will buy another Rowenta when this one is done.
