Nest week we are re-dedicating our newly renovated building. After the service we're having lunch and I just can't figure out what to make. It has to stand for 2 hours from house to serving. We have a fridge available, but I'm betting it will be full. Any ideas for a main dish or salad. If I don't come up with something I'll make cookies, but we usually have lots of desserts. I'm new to the church and to southern living and wow can these women cook! I'm a good cook, but I don't want to be embarassed!

I make cresent rolls for our church dinners. That way I don't have to worry about keeping anything hot or cold if the sermon runs over.

Any type of rolls, or maybe a plate of cut veggie with a dip or ranch dressing?

Do you have a cooler you can bring with ice in it. Make some deviled eggs!!
I make finger sandwiches with cream cheese, slice of ham and small piece of pineapple.

Good luck,
simple quilter

We eat quite frequently at our church on Sundays. I have to be there at 9:15 for choir practice before Sunday School and our worship service. On these occasions, I make something in my crock-pot. It is always nice and hot and everyone appreciates that. Congealed salad is always good if you have a refrigerator. Hot or cold items carried to church in one of the many insulated carriers on the market are usually sufficient to keep items at a reasonable temperature. One of the dishes I do in the crock-pot for church that everyone loves is just smoked sausage or kielbasa with BBQ sauce poured over it. I like to use Country Bob's sauce which I buy at Walmart. Men especially like this dish. You can fry the sausage before putting it in the crock-pot or not. It doesn't seem to make a difference one way or the other. Hope this helps.

Try a 7-layer salad. Make it in a metal cake pan, take it in your cooler with a bag of ice on top, it will keep really welland they may need the ice.
