I really want to know what it feels like to be wrapped up in Lovely warmth and softness!! It might give me more ideas of how to make quilts for my family and maybe someday myself. Just wondering! Welcome to the board! I think after you make your first quilt, you should make your second for yourself! Then you will not only be able to wrap yourself in it, but everytime you do you can say to yourself: I MADE this! There are lots easy patterns on line, you can find some of them right here in the tutorial section.

Growing up with both of my grandmothers and a great grandmother, all of whom made quilts, I can't imagine never having one.
Please, get yourself one and start enjoying the good life!

my first ever quilt came from an auction. It is an older one that was ufo, top only. My husband bid and got it. So not knowing anything about finishing a quilt, I go get some batting and fabric and i put it together. Its a 4 patch, using old pieces of fabrics for the top. This was about 15 years ago. I just started making quilts myself this past Novemeber, now I love doing it so much, I don't want to do anything else!!!! heheheh

I sleep every night with a quilt made by my dear, sainted, Aunt Mary. It is the softest quilt ever made! I am pretty sure that it has polyester batting in it and some of the topping material is a blend of cotton and ? - but OH SO SOFT. I think of her every night when I pull it up to me.

I found and gifted to my favorite LQS a beautiful (albet tattered) old quilt at a garage sale for $5. The new owner said that she's going to restore it.

Watch garage sales, thrift stores, estate sales and auctions. The old quilts that I have are ones my grandmother and my mother made and I wouldn't part with them even for Bill Gates money.

Maybe we should try and organize a throw size quilt swap with some of the others that have never received a quilt. That way we could all be wrapped in friendship!
