support your quilting? My husband NEVER says anything about my buying fabric/patterns/books, etc. In fact, he has on several occasions brought people into my sewing room and opened the doors to my fabric armoire to show them how much fabric I have.
He doesn't usually come in and ask what I'm making, but when I bring a project out of the sewing room to show him, he oohs and aahs appropriately.
His hobby is Mustangs - he has a "65 Fastback and 2 "71s. When he's restoring one of them, I'll go out in the garage with a cool drink for him and ooh and ahh appropriately. We make a good team - on Oct. 24, we'll be celebrating 40 years of marriage. I think I'll keep him. :)

DH absolutely is my enabler! He encourages me in all things quilting. He even joined this forum because he enjoys all the pics and great folks and has just started taking an interest in vintage machines.

Sounds like both of our DH's are keepers. BTW, I love the '65 'stang...makes my heart go pitty pat!

OH yeah, he sounds like a keeper. If I still had the one I do not have now.........it would be mouthy! Sometimes silence is better than gold. Anyway, he sounds supportive and proud......lucky gal.

mine usually tries to pretend oblivious but he slips and his admiration shows, and when I hear him telling a buddy about the quilt I'm working on..... really makes me teary. we're kinda old (50ish/60ish) but have only been married 13yrs on 9/11. I knew him when we were younger but were both married to others. I'll keep him!

My husband doesn't support much of anything that I do. There's days when I can't even breathe to suit him. But, he doesn't want me to give anything away so I guess that means that he likes it. And he uses the quilt I made for him every night so he must like it too, he just would never say so. He's just one of those "glass half empty" sort of people that doesn't believe in allowing himself the pleasure of being happy. We're total opposites in just about everything. He like the outdoors, I don't. He like to gripe, I like to laugh. He's very tight and possessive, I'm more of a free spirited share everything type. But I've gotten used to him and when he's in one of his "moods" I just go upstairs and sew, so I guess I'll keep mine too. Besides, it would cost too much to get rid of him and I'm too old to break in a new one. LOL

My husband learned a couple of months ago that he better fake his approval of my quilting or else. I told him if he wants me to listen to him talk about football and all his hobbies then he better give me respect for my quilting. Now he tells me I have such and such day off if you want to spend the day quilting and he oooohs and aaaaws at everything.

My DH is an "enabler". He tells me of yardsale and auction ads that have anything sewing-related. He takes me to quilt stores when we are traveling...he takes a book and sits outside the store or in the car and reads while I shop.

About a week ago he saw an ad for giveaway of 2 antique sewing machines. I was at work so he called the person and went and picked them up and brought them home. They both were treadles! (Need work, but treadles, nonetheless.) He didn't tell me about them till I got home from work!

He spots fabric and sewing stuff at yardsales and thrift stores and points it out to me or calls me to tell me if I'm not with him.

One time he was at an estate auction without me and they had a sewing machine in a cabinet. He called me to ask how much he should bid. I told him don't go over $50 as it was a "want"...not a "need". Yep...he got it and brought it home. It is a Pfaff 130 in a perfect maple cabinet! He got it for $5!!! He is very proud of that purchase and tells people about it when the topic turns to quilting! LOL

He "jokes" about how much fabric I have or how many sewing machines I have (13 now including 2 toy sewing machines...oh yeah...he bought me my first toy sewing machine at a yardsale! LOL)

He collects and resells stone crocks and I go with him on his jaunts to find those. So we "enable" each other in our hobbies!

A typical trip/vacation includes at least one trip to a quilting store, an antique store, and a thrift store! LOL

Forgot to add...

When the kids moved out I took over both of their bedrooms...one is a sewing room and one is a quilting room (for my handquilting frame.)

When I look like I am headed upstairs to my "rooms" he'll say "Go to your room!" Or I'll say..."I'm going to my room...where I wanted to be in the first place." (The second one is from a Bill Cosby routine where his wife told him to get out of bed and get the kids breakfast...and he gives them cake and grapefruit juice. He says that when his wife came downstairs she sent him to his room..."where I wanted to be in the first place."!! )
