I like to hand Quilt while sitting in the sun.
After a busy morning (standing in line at the Post Office is probably the main culprit) my back started hurting. While my DH cleaned out the garage , & installed the new washing machine, I set up in the front yard with a folding chair ;back pillows; and a foot stool & hand quilted. It was 78 degrees, perfect. There was enough light that I didn't need my readers & didn't need to lean over to quilt. No extra back strain!! I could talk to DH while he worked, wave at my neighbors, watch the birds, laugh at the cats at play... A perfect afternoon. Here are some pictures of the quilt that I'm working on. I started it for DFL. Now I do it in his memory. back Part that I already quilted. The stiches are bigger than I like. Beautiful quilt, and lesson well learned. Wish our temps were good enough I could sit outside and quilt. Its already too cool here for that.

What a perfect way to spend the afternoon! Your quilt is baeutiful.

I've never quilted setting outside. I guess I should give it a try since I live in FL.
Your quilt is beautiful! |
Such a patient lady. Beautiful work.

What a great memory, not only of your DFL, but also of the afternoon.
|
Beautiful! Sounds like the perfect day! I also hand-quilt, but never thought of doing it outside! Will have to try it! (But I don't think I could manage without my specs!)

A lovely quilt!
You are lucky to have such warm weather. We had our first snowfall Saturday night. |
I have hand quilted and hand pieced while sitting outside at a campground. It was a nice way to pass the time and it was a conversation starter among other campers who were interested in what I was doing, quilters and non-quilters

Thanks you guys. I appreciate all your comments. We usually don't have our first freeze till Thanksgiving.
