....I am starting to wonder if eventually the traditional pieced quilts won't make it into any of the quilt shows. Really, there are so many art quilts and fewer and fewer traditional. Lately all the big prizes, Best of Show, Best Quilting, etc. seem to go to art quilts.

I don't think I am very happy about this trend. And this is just MY opinion!

Oh I so hope not! I love traditional quilts.

Not true. I see many beautifully pieced quilts. They will never go out of style.

I hear you. Not to say I do not like the art quilts but it does seem you need to hand quilt or have it expertly long arm quilted too. I plan to enter in our fair coming summer.

I wonder if we are seeing more pictures of interest to the posters  and not a true representation of the whole show :D:D:D

I tend to lean more towards art quilts, contemporary type of quilts, and that would be what the majority of my picture would include :D:D:D

We didn't see very many 'traditional' quilts at Hattiesburg - mostly art, thread painting, magazine/other 'designer' quilts etc

I fully agree with you on this, I have quit going to the shows for this reason, while the "art quilts" are quite special, they feel like they should be on a wall in a gallery somewhere, not used for quilts. To each their own, i'll stick with the classics, and attend the church and 4-H fairs if I want to see "quilts"

I guess today traditional quilts are boring held up beside the quilts that look like they belong in a art gallery in a wood frame and under glass...

We traditional quilters have the best judges in the world and that is our love ones, they get to admire, fondle, brag and snuggle and share their stories about their special quilt that was truly made with love and that is far beyond words or ribbons and for me that's all I need...

And hint the word traditional quilts...and that goes back to the time when there was NO Quilts Shows or Judge's..

I agree with this. Not that I DON'T like art quilts really but, I just pass them by. As a whole, as a catagory, I have no interest in them. It's just not my thing, I like traditional, bed sized quilts.

I wonder also. It seems the quilts are really beautiful, but I do love the pieced quilts. But then a lot of people like the other types....I guess that is what makes the world go round., And we thought for years it was love...
