What do have in your life that is the equivalent of nails on a blackboard - things that make you cringe?
Here is one I have - I can NOT stand it when two forks get their tines stuck together. I don't know what it is - the sight, the sound, or the feel.
If I get enough weird responses I will confess the other one.

Squeaky shoes in a store or basketball court.

Grinding teeth

cant stand it when people eat and then try sucking all the stuck food particals out making a noise. Its disgusting. Nor do I like to hear people smack their mouth while eating. :)

Oh, my gosh, I thought I was the only one in the world who couldn't stand the squeaky shoes on the basketball court. Years and years ago I actually broke up with a boyfriend because he wanted me to attend all the basketball games he played in. I couldn't stand the shoe noise.
I can not stand to just sit and watch t. v. I have to be doing something with my hands. Usually crocheting or hand work.

The person in the coffee shop that "stirs" his/her coffee for five minutes and loud enough for the people outside to hear it. Tink! Tink! Tink!

Trimming fingernails in public & letting the clippings fly anywhere.

The sound of a steak knife on a plate

I don't like 'tangled tines' either. The sound of silverware scraping on a plate sets my teeth on edge. Not that I'm especially fond of nails on a blackboard, but if that were the only alternative.........
I up in a quiet area and the sound of squealing tires or a car horn really makes me jump (and sometimes surprises a yelp out of me).
I absolutely detest the sound of gunfire, anytime, anywhere for any reason and I don't think I would deal well with the sight of a gun other than on television.
I really detest earwigs and a few other beetle type bugs. Spiders, no problem. Mice? Bring 'em on. Snakes? Okey-dokey. Slugs? YYYYUUUCCCKKKK!!!!!!!
Probably got lots of them that I avoid so automatically, I've forgotten what they are LOL.
