I recently bought the Featherweight 221, and the other Singer I have is the Singer 6267 which I bought new around 1984 or so.

I've read lots of negatives on the later Singer machines, and I'm wondering when Singer quit making great machines.

Do any of you have Singers that you are happy with? I know we are all happy with our Featherweights.......but I'm curious about the others.

Incidentally, I also have the Baby Lock Ellageo ESG3. It was quite pricey, but all plastic.

I have a Singer Merritt from 1985 that I just love....it has sure seen some mileage and hours....I use it for garment sewing really, but love what it does...it was one of the last with a cast iron body! I have an older singer in a cabinet that is a tiny little green thing.,.very basic, but what a stitch she has....I would say it is much older though...

I have a Singer 7470 that I bought a couple of years ago, and I like it alot. Has been a very good machine. I've always had Singers since 1974.

I am happy with all of mine but the newest singer I have is my 301. I think when they went to the composite gears and belt drives it was the downfall of the company. You could not give me a new machine anyway but a new singer would be target practice for me.

The 66's and 15's are on my all time favorite machines along with the 500A.

I have an old Singer 328k that is very heavy and sews a great straight stitch. I usually use it if I'm working on a heavier fabric like denim because it goes right through without any hesitation. I'd love to have a 221 FW but it's not in my budget right now. Enjoy yours :)

It seems like when they went to the 600 and 700 series it was over with. Although they had a few models that were nicely made in those runs.

I have a 400A, and would not trade it for anything...

I have the Singer Confidence Q and only had one problem with it. The quilting food kept breaking. I finally got one that I paid and extra 25 bucks for, so now I am all set.

I use a singer and I love it. It is about 35 years old and hums right along. I also have a Gem Janome that I take to classes.

I also have a Singer Merritt from the 1980s which is a great workhorse machine! I have a Featherweight, a Creative Touch and Sew and two others. I love them all.
