I went to Harbor Freight today to get some new blades for my rotary cutters because they are getting dull. This is the first time I've been there for them, thanks to you on this board who have said they are cheaper there! Well, there was exactly one package left! The clerk said a woman came in a day or so ago and bought 40 packages and they had only that one left. Well, I'm glad there was one, because I needed them. I asked when they would get any more and he said in a week or two, so I guess I'll be back out there in a couple of weeks! I just wonder why anyone would need 40 packages - 2 in a package. Maybe she can't get there so had to get all she could. Does anyone else buy them in quantities like this?

well.. after numerous trips to HF and they were always out, was in there on Monday and they had a whole rack full. I bought 12 packages - but that wasn't even half of what they had. I had a coupon for 20% off ONE item. The blades were $1.99 per pack. Didn't think much about it when paying but was showing my dau receipt when I got home to show her how much cheaper they were than "name brand" blades and the clerk had given me 20% off the whole purchase making each pack about $1.49 before tax. And, b/c I spent at least $20 I got a free mini LED flashlite! But at least I left blades for the carpet cutter people!

When I was there this past Tuesday, I bought 17 packages which was all they had, but I bought them for all the ladies in my little quilting group and because we live close to 100 miles away, I just got everyones order and picked them up for all of us. I ended up with only one package but that is okay. I asked when they would get more in and they said they get their shipments in on Mondays. So, I may go back then and get a couple more packages for me.

You have to buy them in quantity when they are available or you will never get any.........I bought 10pkgs!! And I will not have to go to HF for any for a while....makes sense to me,
I cut alot of fabric!!

I, too, got mine for $1.49. I would like to have bought maybe 5 packages. However, after readiing what you guys have said, I guess I'll buy 10 or so each time - providing they have that many!!!!!

what kind of blades are these?

. OMG the blade here at Joanns (Olfa) is about $10/each, but of course i buy them online in a pack of ten at Overstock.com for $30.
Is HF the hardware store?

Thanks

instead of over stock .com for 30 i order mine through jhittlesewing.com for 14.95 for a package of ten. they work great. HF here never has any in stock so i do it that way

i also buy supplies in bulk. it saves me a lot of money in the long run and i always have enough on hand to get me through several projects.

Joann near me always has them in stock, so I buy just one pack at a time. I try to use their 40 percent coupon, but I usually have the coupon on the wrong date. ugh.
