Besides "I loved him/her", why did you decide to get married?

joan_quilts 02-15-2011 06:01 AM

He is my best friend!

We had lived together for 5 years, I was 31 and wanted kids. He did too so we finalized our relationship. It has been a good 30 years.

He was literally down on one knee. And he was awful handsome.

I couldn't imagine spending my life without him!

He made me laugh...still does. 28 years later, it must have been the right decision. He's a keeper.

That's just what you did back then(Well when you were from a poor country family, you didn't know any diffrent lol), 30 years in as of yesterday, UGH....Boy if I knew then as they say ha ha

Laura22 02-15-2011 06:06 AM

Because I wanted to have babies with him and be together for the rest of our lives. And, because he always makes me laugh :)

Honestly? Because we were at the point in our relationship where we had to either break up and move on or get married! That's what you did back then - dated till you broke up or married. It was easier to get married - less stressful and hurtful. That was 37 years, two children, and two grandchildren ago. Once in a while I wonder "What if", but for the most part we're chugging along just fine.

you're guess is as good as mine, but I love him
