Default Ad free Quilting Board site by subscription?

With today's proliferation of ads across most forums and blogs, it becomes frustrating to wait for all the loadings before one can navigate the pages and each page seems to present its own time lag, presumptively based on the type ads.

I for one would be most interested in an ad-free site with the same wonderful material offered as you have now, and would happily pay an annual subscription, as I certainly understand that you need to cover costs and preferably then some.

Has this ever been considered? Is it doable?

Thanks for taking it under advisement. Checking the Quilting Board posts is religiously on my early a.m. procedures. So appreciate all you and the wonderful contributors do to enrich our quilting experiences.

not a mod or owner but get adblock for the browser you are running. free and works very well.

My total pet peeve is news pages that start video news automatically. I'm on measured broadband so it eats up my amount before I can get it stopped. I perfer to read my news not have at read for me by talking heads

I don't get any ads when I'm on this site. Check out AD Blocker and those types of programmes.

I use Adblocker too, but are you aware of how much it slows down your pages loading? Each page has to be scanned by AB for ads, so they take longer to load.

And ad free site by subscription would be great for those of us who are already 'hooked' on this board, but it would make acquiring new members muc h harder. They could do what music sites do... offer a free version full of ads. Once you like the site and hate the ads, you can then decide to pay for the ad free version.

Well, thank you all for the AdBlocker suggestion. I'm embarrassed to say that I've never heard of it, but I'm on my way right now. Thanks for steering me in the right direction. You all are awesome and appreciated.

Ad Blocker stops all the annoying ads. One well known quilt blogger gets upset when people use ad blocker to view her blog. It's so ad heavy it's almost impossible to read anything. This board is almost as bad. I use Ad Blocker and will pay if the free ever goes away.

I use adblocker but I still see small, static ads like "Chenille Quilts" at the top of the page. Doesn't bother me at all.

I notice it doesn't work so well on Yahoo home page. I see more ads there. And I have to agree, when I click on a news "story" and there is nothing to read, just a video, I back out again.
