Default deleting unapproved messages?

I have five PMs that are from unapproved visitors. I don't know what makes them unapproved, exactly, because they were responding to posts that I had done. How do I delete them? I don't want to report them, just delete them. Every time I go up to notifications and see that I have a number of messages, I get all excited until I realize that it's the same messages that I haven't been able to get rid of.

It's confusing -- someone else here had to help me with this too. First, check the box to the right of each message you want to delete. Then, at the bottom of the list of messages, you'll see a blue box that says "Selected Messages". Click that blue box and you'll see all your options, including "Delete".

The only box is the box next to "report". I tried checking them to see if a blue box would show up at the bottom saying "selected messaged". I only got a blue box that said something about "moderator". Thanks for trying to help CookyIN. I don't know if my screen looks different for some reason or what. Anyone else have any thoughts?

I have this too. I contacted Patrice about it , because it says it is being monitored. and she said I am the only one that could monitor my messages so I have to change my settings. I still can't get rid of it.

Settings
General Settings
set Visitor Messages to Off

if you have existing Visitor Messages go to My Profile.
select the message(s) and then use the blue Moderation Tools button to select the action you want to perform.

I had 1 too. I did as Patrice instructed in her post and it worked. the box says report but don't worry-go ahead and check it. SCROLL DOWN the blue moderater box is down there. click it. a SECOND PAGE COMES UP AND IT LOOKS LIKE NOTHING CHANGED. DO IT AGAIN, GONE. mission complete
