Member count?
I am wondering... there are many many members who have registered & never posted. Is this a PLUS for the forum or would it be possible to do a "purge" of anyone who has registered and never posted within the last year? I don't know the logistics of the $$$$$ that may be lost or gained with this, but is it possible? It's ridiculous when you see all the members who have registered but never posted a "gainful" item to the forum.

Or maybe move them to an inactive list so that we could see if someone posted for awhile then quit for some reason.

I don't think it matters. But if you look at the members names, you see a ton of obvious spammer names, who have, thank goodness, never posted.. just search for Ugg in the member name list and see how many Ugg Boots for sale names are there.

And if they do post ... and it's obvious spamming, report the post and the Mods will take care of it.

the techs installed a much improved sniffer to weed out spammers before they can complete registration.
i check new registrations periodically to get rid of the rest.
i work on eliminating the "legacy creeps" every so often.
it's going to take a while because they built up over several years.
most of those remaining "joined" before we switched platforms.
i didn't have the tools before to detect them, let alone cull them.
it's a manual process and time consuming.
(better to proceed slowly than to risk accidentally deleting a genuine member.)
i thought i'd already found all of the Ugg-lies, but i guess i'd better keep looking. LOL
the remaining "memberships" don't interfere with anything.
as QuiltE advised, in the unlikely event you see that one of them has posted something, or sent you an unsolicited PM, just let me know. i'll be all over it like a chicken on a june bug.
as to real members who don't post, i don't think it would be appropriate to take any punitive action.
active participation by posting is up to each member.
their reasons for not posting vary among a long list of possibilities.
i just think of them as friends we have not yet met.

From what I've noticed, when someone 'insincere' has posted, the mods get flooded with "did you see this?" PMs and that post (and maybe the poster, too) gets disappeared.
There have been some strange solicitation/ad type posts - and they were pounced on!
ETA: Just looked at the Ugg names - Guess I missed all the Ugg ones! There are quite a few there!
