    Default MG size for posting

We've upgraded to windows 11 and it has been nothing but a pain. Been trying to add photos of two quilts, and can finally reduce the image, but nothing I add in for the pixel size will give me something under 2 mg for the required size. Can somone please tell me what I should be putting in? I even googled it and it said 2560 x1440 which is way to large. Help please.

I am not on 11 yet -- bought new systems on Black Friday and they just came in. Won't set up mine until after my trip.

There might be a confusion in your settings or what you are trying to do. For here, the importance of the size is the file size, not the picture size.

Basically pixels are when you take an image and make it into small bits -- the pixels. so 2560x1440 is how many small dots you have across say your computer screen. You can reduce those pixels down quite a bit without sacrificing detail to human vision. That also reduces the file size because there is less information to store.

Often the easiest way to reduce images is to convert to JPG, for my pictures I still have to reduce further. If you have the ability to send to yourself via email or have a share button, it will most likely be postable here.

Maybe this more technical discussion will help?

I went to windows 11 and yes, I've had a lot of issues with it. I had to have some extensions removed so now I can't just pull up a file with my quilting patterns and look at them, I have to take them into a program to see what they look like. Luckily, this didn't bother my embroidery designs.

As for resizing photos, I just double click the photo and then click on "edit" at the top left corner to crop it and any other changes I need, then save it. I click again on the photo and go over to the 3 dots to the right at the top and that's where it allows me to resize it. Once opened, there's a spot called (quality) with a lever you can move from side to side and if you watch down below, it will give you number of pixels, Also right alongside of the "quality" you can change the type of photo it is too. I find "jped" gives you the smaller size.

I have Win 11 and I had to reduce some pictures yesterday. I actually reduced that image smaller, but took a screen shot of the screen that shows the options.
After I clicked on the yellow circle three dots icon and clicked on Resize it will bring up a screen similar to the one attached.
I had already clicked on Percentage button as indicated by the yellow arrow.
I then typed 75 in the width box.
It shows the new file size with both pixels and file size as indicated in the yellow box.
    resize.jpg
Then click on save. I would suggest renaming. It will default to the last place you saved an image, but that can be changed. Or if you have renamed it, you can save it where you are at. It will put a box on the screen as to where it is saved.
