"Invalid Thread"

I wonder why there are so many "invalid threads" when I click on a subject. Is it because someone posted something that isn't allowed on the Quilting Board? I just don't want to be guilty of posting something that has to be removed. Is there a place where the rules are posted? TIA (thanks in advance.)

There is a "rules/guidelines" thread posted at the top of each section.

Here is the link for the General Chit-Chat Section

https://www.quiltingboard.com/genera...-a-t21986.html

There are a few clear-cut no-nos for posts - religion, politics, vulgarity/swearing, crude sex, bashing, etc.

Many of us have had threads deleted - for one reason or another - I think most of us do not knowingly post something unsuitable - so do not feel that if you have a thread deleted or edited that you have committed a cardinal sin.

Sometimes the original post was "okay" - but then the additional comments made it go downhill.

rats, i just clicked on one too. must be "new" people doing something they should not. I hope they get it stopped.

that's very funny. truly. lol

seriously, though, the "invalid thread" error will show up most often when people rely on the digest lists of threads. they do not automatically update if we have to move or delete a thread. (most often, threads are moved to the correct section ... not deleted.)

the digest lists are useless. they don't show what's new. they only show what's "busy." well ... with so many people only looking at those they will stay the "busiest."

use the "What's New" option in your top menu bar.
then you get to see what's really going on around here. :)

Hi Patrice,
I log into the site each time and use the 'whats new' tab at the top. I ran into several 'invalid thread' instances yesterday AM. Thought perhaps it was my 'connection' so logged out and back in. Then those 'invalid threads' were gone! Definitely not a 'digest' issue in my case. Just an FYI.

But why do they make it to the digest when there are others that we'd like to read?

they are listed automatically by a software routine.
the routine doesn't "know" they are in the wrong place or that they don't comply with rules.

do not rely on the digest.

i'm stumped about that one.

I am stumped by the invalid threads too. I asked the administrator but wasn't sure what the answer meant. Really annoying when you think it is something you would like to see(according to the heading)

I was seeing that too, and it wasn't with either the digest or the "what's new" function. I was doing an advanced search for washing "cotton batting." About half the threads that showed up in the results gave me "invalid thread" when I clicked on them.

Most of them were older threads, so it was highly unlikely that they had all been moved in the few minutes between my initial search and when I clicked on them. If they had been deleted or moved to a "moderators only" part of the forum, they wouldn't have shown up at all. Date did not seem to matter. Some older threads gave me errors, but others even older came up just fine.
