explain, please, how you did that.
step-by-step for those of us (or maybe just for me) who are not "getting it."

It's not really my discovery. It's a method used by a couple of the members that I previously PM'd you about.
It only works from a third program. I used my FB and had to go to my photos and click on the one I wanted. Right click, Copy, and paste here.
https://scontent.ftpa1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...0c&oe=5E8F430B
I then went to my FB post and deleted it to see if this pic disappears. I also went to my computer picture files where this was stored and moved it to a different location. Then I completely deleted it from my computer. It seems that the picture stays. this might be a good way to add pics in between verbiage, such as in creating a tutorial. I'm still open to seeing if this method causes any problems to the new format.
ETA: This pic is 1/2 MB

Copying from FB.... https://scontent.fybz2-1.fna.fbcdn.n...eb&oe=5E9DF99E

Also tried to copy straight from a file, but that doesn't work.

What browser are you using? I did this in FF. These showed up in editor as an image but showed as links here.

Sorry, I did not reduce this if you click on the following link it will open in a new window/tab

https://www.quiltingboard.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=621664&stc=1&d=1578751 605

I got this by clicking on paper clip
Browse to find picture
Open
Upload
Back to editor
Then going to manage attachment
Clicking on the image name in "Current Attachments" which opens the image in a new window.
this was originally a link address but click here and will open in new window
Right click image and Copy
back to editor (where I'm typing text)
Paste

And that is how I got these pictures to post.

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

If you click on the attachments thumbnails it will open in this window and will have to use the back arrow to get back to the thread.

Evidently, they did not post as they showed in the editor.

I didn't catch that phrase when I edited to let know that they were links rather than actual images.

I found that you must go to advanced settings to upload pictures. For me the paperclip doesn't work.

Test with Microsoft office 2010 picture viewer

It's there now but don't go to advanced to view the post, all it was was letters and numbers a long stream of them.

When I tried to post it is said my test was too long so that will not work.

you aren't doing anything wrong by testing methods other than the steps in the guide i posted. as long as it doesn't involve URLs, go for it. but don't drive yourselves crazy over it.

there are bigger problems for the techs to solve than the inconvenience of the paperclip.

i have attached the guide elsewhere, but here it is ... yet again,

there does seem to be a problem for anybody trying to upload an image file that takes up more than 2MB, which means the size chart in the upload dialog box is wrong. reason yet unknown. after everything important is fixed i will ask about that. in the meantime, compress your files before upload or set your camera to a lower resolution. google "compressing image files" for a variety of recommendations. (i have updated the image upload guide accordingly. now to hunt all the other copies and replace them.)

i just used the [appears to be free] service here: https://compressjpeg.com/
fast and easy. faster than the method i usually use.
just remember where you downloaded the compressed copy so you can upload it here.
(i only say that because i have - many times - downloaded something and then can't find it. lol)

Thanks PatriceJ. And Thanks too, to Kassaundra and Quossum for their help in explaining this method to me.
