Thank-you...thank-you...I knew there had to be a way, but just couldn't come up with it on my own. I now have a pretty well cleaned out private message box.

Fast way to do it, isn't it?

Patrice, with all due respect, I put this thread in the Main area because everyone needs to know that they need to clean out their in boxes. People are not going to see it here unless they are looking for help with the board. I don't believe this is the correct place to put a notice that everyone needs to know because it won't be seen by all.

but can't figure out how to move them there. You say to click 'selected messages' but I can't find that. where is it ?

Perhaps you figured it out already...sorry I didn't get on line yesterday...
Click selected messages means to put a 'check' in the little boxes to the right of the PM.

Server would be the same size- it would be the 'space' on the server and its not cheap by no means..

Yes, you can sort by member. At your list of PM's, at the title bar above the start, there appears Title/Sender. These are interactive. Click on Sender and they will be sorted by member name. You can easily reorder the date by clicking on Date to the right.

Do I need to delete each individual message by itself? I want to save some. Is there any way to "check" the ones I don't need and do a mass delete of them?

There is a box at the top of each day that tells you how many messages are there for that day. Click the box beside the number of messages and a check mark will appear by each message. If you want to save any of those messages, just un-click those. Go to the bottom of the page on the right. Click on Blue box and it will give you the option to delete, file etc.

Thank you so much. I was starting to get really frustrated.

This is an issue we're aware of, and looking into. We should have the usernames of your sent PM recipients in place soon.

Oh dear, I was just about to write a post saying how happy I was with the ability to save my PM's and later use Excel to sort through them. But now.... I realize I have just saved a massive file that had an error in it (no sender information) and deleted the original pm's. That is a huge problem for me. Is it at all possible that you will be able to restore all those deleted pm's to our accounts (at least on a user-by-user basis) so we can save it properly? I wouldn't have deleted them if I had known they weren't first properly saved.

How to delete some but not all PMs here?

I got not one, but FOUR, emails saying my inbox here at this quilting board is full. I suspect this is one of those things needing some tweaking because I am quite sure most of those PMs had been previously deleted. I'm guessing they never really died and got resurrected when the board got transferred here.

So how do I delete hundreds of PMs? I saw the Edit link, but that only lets you clear the entire inbox (or sent box). You can't select which ones to delete (and keep others). I can view a list of the PMs and select them, but there's no Delete button on the list pages.

I am not going to open every single PM and scroll to the bottom just so I can delete it!

Admin, or Patrice, if you read this, I basically just want to keep the few from the past month and delete the rest.

Isn't anyone else having this problem? I wiould think most of you would have far more PMs than I do.

Lisa. I didn't have a full PM box but thought it was wise to get rid of old notes anyways. You can delete a screen page/list of PM in mass and still keep the ones you want. Open your PMs, to the far right on the same line as the INBOX you'll see a small box with a count of the PMs listed on the page. If you click in this box it will select all those listed. You can then go and click on the little box for each PM you want to keep and it will remove the check mark and not delete that PM. Now that your ready to actually delete, scroll down the page until you see a blue box that says "Selected Message", it's on the right also. There is a small down arrow in that box, click the down arrow and it will drop a menu of options:things you can do with your selected messages. One of the options is delete. Click and they are gone. Hope that helps! Mona
