Please read threads from the top if you are popping in for the first time.
I already explained what is going on.

the technical team has moved the board to a newer version of the software.
they can't estimate how long it will all take, but we will be offline from time to time.
there will also be brief periods when it doesn't look or act the way it's supposed to.

patience, grasshoppers.
hang in there and it will all work out eventually.

i don't know yet.
i'm sure they will make some adjustments to colors because I have explained the need for that to the tech team.

don't ask "when?"
I don't know.

it will all settle down eventually.

Ack, I went thru withdrawal. Glad something is up again.

Even doing that, it is still hard to read. Also on my home computer, I don't get the formatting options that I used to.. ETA-- the format tools are back, but only if editing, Yeah!

Or hold down the ctrl button and use your roller on your mouse.

i dont get this new format. There is so much missing---where is chat room? why did my last post of a quilt get deleted ?I cant get it to come up with heading i used--or by scrolling through the list for 5 pages) i just posted it yesterday evening)) why are my albums messed up? i get the first page of the album pics--rest show a blank square and the latest one is missing entirely. and i dont see a log out button.

It is on the hard to read green lettering on the second bar across the page -- on the far right. If you are like me and enlarged the font to help be able to read the page, you will need to use the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen. I think there might be another way on mobile devices to move to the far right of the page.

I had trouble signing on and thought I was on the wrong place. The font is two small and I miss looking at the pictures with out inlarging.

Belfrybat 12-30-2019 05:13 PM

Thanks for the info, Patrice. Will the last several days of posts be restored? I hang out in challenges and we're missing the last 3 or 4 days of posts in those forums.

Same with Vintage, but I was able to post a new thread there. I had responded to a new thread about a motor and someone else had asked a question that I wanted to find out how the OP responded, but it wasn't there.

New way to post pictures on new format?

I went to the QB help center to see if there are new instructions for posting pictures and there is nothing. I am trying to learn.
All the new picture icon asks for is a URL, well pictures on my PC aren't URLs.

Please, where will I find instructions for the new format? I am not computer savvy.
Thank you in advance for any help.

I am not going to even try to post anything but text until they fix the board, sorry.

Sheri.a 12-30-2019 06:51 PM

Agreed - green font is hard to read even with zoom

I appreciate the Quilting Board very much. It has helped me soooo much over the years.

I hate to complain, but I want to agree that the green color and font is now very hard to read. My computer is new and I'm on windows 10. The wording is fuzzy with that color.

The last few years before I retired, I was seeing software move to lighter colors. I'm not sure of the reason, but it really caused problems with being able to read the computer.

Thank you for listening. And thanks again for all of your work.

OurWorkbench 12-30-2019 07:29 PM

There are a bunch of posts that have gone missing, while they are "testing functionality" I haven't tried to post a picture, but can only get the "formatting and inserting icons" when I edit a post.

PatriceJ tried earlier and said that you have to "manage attachments" rather than "insert" an image, but I can't get to attachments even going advanced.

Thank you! Making the font larger really helped me be able to see it. The contrast isn't good, but at least the font is larger.

Thanks for the suggestions on how to enlarge the font. That does help. Sorry for the double message. I didn't see my reply and though I had not sent it.

I agree". New format is way too confusing.

quiltingshorttimer 12-30-2019 09:05 PM

New Format Surprise

opened today for first time and wow! what happened? the whole screen page seems to have shrunk, making it hard to read and the picutres miniscule. Is there a way to enlarge it to full screen? If not, I find it hard to read and hard on my eyes. Help please!

I totally agree.

quiltingshorttimer 12-30-2019 09:15 PM

this "new" format is for the birds! too small, hard to read, etc! guess we'll all be much more productive with our quilting projects since likely we won't be spending as much time on the Board! Know I won't--too hard on my eyes.

vadalia 12-30-2019 09:27 PM

Hopefully the font color will be changed but, in the meantime, for those having difficulty with the contrast you can hold down CTRL while hitting "A". This will "select" everything on the page which (entirely incidentally) highlights it in dark blue and thus provides more contrast. I use that trick a lot when my eyes get tired after staring at a computer screen all day.

Sync 12-30-2019 09:36 PM

I was surprised when I tried to use my bookmark to get to the forum today and it didn't work. I had to use google to find my way here. What a shock. I'm with you, the page is on the small side and a bit hard to read on my tablet, but at least I can enlarge my screen. The pictures are thumbnails and if you click on them, they will open up one new page.

I am so happy to hear that others do not like this new format. I have been away for a few weeks, d/t the passing of my stepmother. Today, when I got back on, I thought something was wrong with my eyes!. I do not like the greenish color, and I definitely do not like how small the print is. Makes my old eyes blurry trying to read it.
You know that old saying...if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Well, now it IS broke, and needs fixing.

Peckish 12-30-2019 11:27 PM

If you're using a computer (Windows or Mac) you can enlarge by holding down the Ctrl button and typing + (the plus button). On a Mac, use Command instead of Ctrl. ;)
If you're on a phone or tablet, sorry, I got nuthin'. :(

patricej 12-31-2019 02:09 AM

Things will be different for a while as they try to adapt the appearance of the new version to our preferences.
They way things look to me now, for example, is radically different to the way they looked 15 minutes ago.

Just be patient.

Well, I didn't know anything was changing, so this morning was kinda a "what the heck is going on?", but I'll keep hanging on..:)

Eva Knight 12-31-2019 04:17 AM

new format

Don't like the new format. Hard to use. Why change a good thing?

magpie 12-31-2019 04:21 AM

When I clicked the link in the email for the newsletter 12/29 and today's, browser said page not found. Had to type it in browser window to open the newsletter.

pocoellie 12-31-2019 04:21 AM

This new format is so less "user" friendly, and the "teal" coloring is horrible. I hope it doesn't last too long.

jmoore 12-31-2019 04:22 AM

Same here...and I was unable to post a picture on a thread last night.

I’m glad it’s only temporary. I will be patient. : )

QuiltnNan 12-31-2019 04:46 AM

I believe, after reviewing/moderating posts, that all or most of the postings from the 27th or 28th or 29th are missing.

QuiltnNan 12-31-2019 04:51 AM

I just want to add that not only is the aqua difficult to read, but the white on beige for the post time/date and the post # is hard to see. if it all was switched to black font, i would be able to see it better. JMHO

SuzzyQ 12-31-2019 04:54 AM

What gives?

Do not like this new format. Looks like it was taken several steps and years back. And it's not user friendly at all!

This would be in "all caps" - trust me I'm yelling!

Doesn't seem to be anything new posted - except here since Christmas.

DebbieBrei 12-31-2019 04:56 AM

New Forum

Definately agree!!

patricej 12-31-2019 05:01 AM

if you had bothered to read any of the other threads on this topic, and my responses, you'd know what is going on.

this mess is temporary.
change of this type is rarely fun.
however, if some of what i have seen when the full site is operational holds true, it will be better than before.

patience.

i will keep you as informed as possible.

in the meantime, let's all put on our Big Girl panties and deal with it.

costumegirl 12-31-2019 05:01 AM

It appears that any discussions or comments posted from Dec26 to the 29th are missing. Lost in cyberspace?

SuzzyQ 12-31-2019 05:06 AM

I'm good with change but everything I'm looking for is gone.
And I did read what's happening... I feel like the change has gone backwards is all. Like I'm looking at my first computer all those many years ago. What good is my fancy new computer (22" screen) when the pages are so small?

I deserve that. I am truly sorry. I don't get a chance to read everything and thought this was the new format. Please accept my apology.
