2013 Fabric Moratorium

Irishrose, your a woman of steel. If you waited on the the rose fabric it would not be there when you wanted it. Seems to me having it on the shelf waiting will keep those creative juices flowing. Verdict: no demerits.

Emma, it may have more to do with having guests coming for my ex husband's funeral service so there's no room for any more fabric. I can see it now - "You have to stay at a motel because I went batik shopping and the guest room is full of fabric." I squeezed the two yards in a decorative box in the living room - this week end I will gift someone with the vintage dishes that are currently in there to free up some space. Devious, eh?

Irishrose: The expression on there faces might have been worth it. My kids probably would just say they knew it would come to "no room in the inn" someday.

I like that idea of gifting some 'vintage dishes' to make room for more fabric. I think my almost empty top shelf of hutch might look lovely with stacks of fabric in it now. Hmmm...I like that idea. Now...who can I 'gift' to all the unused dishes in the bottom?

So Joann had a 60% off coupon for regular priced fabric. I had to go check it out and the Kona Solids were not on sale. Then a lady gave me her 60% off coupon and I ran into a gal from work who passed on hers. I stocked up on red and black (5 yards each) and a bit of green for the solid wallhanging border. Hey - at 60% discount I must say that I lept off that wagon!

When everything else is on sale at JoAnn's the solids usually are not. A 60% coupon makes the Kona $3.20 per yard. Really can't beat that. Martina, don't know if you have been on the JoAnn's web site but they have a ton of colors in the Kona. The most they ever seem to have at my local store is about eight.

I had to go to JoAnn's and get a part for my machine from the in-store Viking dealership. I saw a friend and gave her my 60% coupon, as I had already slipped a bit this month. I also 'pretend shopped' last week for the Connecting Threads 40% off Quilter's Candy sale. Put a bunch of yards in my basket, but did not make the purchase. Yay.

So that's where all those sneaky pieces came from! P'princess, yours were put in my cart by mistake! So who gets their hand slapped ( figuratively, of course!)? I had to buy some fq's of fabrics my ddil likes. She has very quiet, but old fashioned taste in colors and design. Then she threw me a curve ball! She wants me to design a quilt with colors she can draw from for her guest room. Might as well use colors i like since i just spent a month there. Lol and only bought some strips to make a quilt top that went totally wrong!! Serves me right for getting off the wagon at the wrong stop. Didn't see a quilt shop all month! Will try to post pictures of my dgd in her birthday dress. I had ordered the polka dot a long time ago and bought the net and ribbon , too. Not a quilt, right ? So it doesn't count. Also made my ddil a tiered apron in red and white polka dots and solids to co- ordinate with the Minnie dress. All very fun! And at least semi-legal. 8-)

I've seen the lovely colors Emma but I'm trying to stay off the website. Been bad enough lately. (she says with a grin on her face.) .....and there better not be any hand-slapping going on here. That would cause stress and stress makes me buy more fabric.
