2014 Fabric Moratorium
#851
In the last 6 weeks, 2 new quilt shops opened up in my area. One is 6 miles south, one is 3 miles north. I visited the one to the south today and purchased a yard of fabric, just to welcome her & perform my civic duty to support local merchants. I'll hit the one to the north next week!

I just got thru moving my fabric again. Definitely not buying more for at least another year. It was the easiest move I ever made. I moved the small stuff by shopping cart and the big stuff by slider. It was worth it since I get a sewing room now. Once I get finished unwrecking it I should be able to start getting some stuff done again.

Well the other shoe dropped... I stopped at the new shop that's just to the north. Small selection, but beautiful fabrics and they were running a Hunting Widows sale. 30% off. I needed 2 yards for a Christmas quilt, so I got 6.

I have been playing in my sewing room and have decided I definitely do need to use some fabric before I buy more...but that doesn't mean I can't buy batting (4 yds of 127" width) and an Easy Angle ruler which I wanted. So I am riding happily along and haven't fallen off so far since my last tumble.

Sandy, you will love the EA ruler--I use mine all the time; sure saves on math.

Oh, I have definitely fallen off this wagon so many times this year. The good thing is that now our churchis doing a prayer pocket quilt ministry, and it's helping me use up my scraps! Yippee Skippy!! Not that it means I can/should buy more fabric, but it's good to get rid of some of it. I'm beginning to lose interest in the bed sized quilts. No one needs more, and charity quilts are good, but I just seem to need to carve out time! Sorry for the whine.

Yippee, skippy is anything else but a whine. Hope you can make some quality time for your quilting, coopah.
Princess, I LOVE the way you reason: Need two - get six. Now THAT makes perfect sense to me. Great sale too.
I am getting ready to head to Germany and my sister told me that my home town has a hand-crafty store in town. Since she is not a hand crafter, she has never set foot in the store but she'll show me where it is. My sister owns a chain saw and the safety outfit that goes with it. I have never known anyone to get that excited when it's time to chop wood. Needle and thread are total foreign objects to her.
We had to go shopping at Walmart today and I perused the entire craft section (even petted some fabric) without buying a single thing. One point for me!
