Who knew we could be grateful for bad weather?!? Good story and a good opportunity to take a peek into stash to see what treasures you may find!

I'm working on Bonnie Hunter's lastest mystery - Lupine & Laughter, and very happy by the fact that the fabric is all from my stash. (all except for 1 yd. of a purple to add variety) So far, I have resisted all urges to shop online or at my LQS, even with them throwing sales at me.

I seriously organized my fabric and realize I have no business buying fab, thread, batting, patterns. So, to remove temptation, I stopped emails from MSQC, Quilt in a Day, Joran fabric, Green Fairy, and Connecting threads. I feel so sad...lol

Feel free to drop in here any time you get the urge to go online browsing, Julienm1 - the "shopping" you do for ideas and inspiration are likely to be much more rewarding in the long run. :-D

Julienm1, those temptation sights will be there when you NEED them but in the meantime sit back and rest assured that you are working toward your moratorium goal. Three cheers for you.

This is my 2026 Moratorium start:

We have a local organization that helps people get set up in apartments/ homes. The place receives donations of gently used furniture, lamps, bedding, cookware, dishes, etc. I’ve just made close to 100 pairs of potholders for them using my scraps on hand. I’ve bought Insulbrite twice so I’m going to continue until I run out. My scrap bin looks quite empty !
Tonight I started an “I Spy” quilt for a family friend who has a boy having his 1st birthday next month. That bin is looking better too.
JoAnne’s Fabric was fairly close to my house and tempting me all the time. I bought fabric there for community quilts. Now I have further to go to Hobby Lobby and it makes me look closer to my stash. Win Win !

In lieu of cancelling my emails, I've recreated my 'fabrics I wanted' folder. I deleted it a couple of years ago, when I thought I was cured of buying fabric, LOL.

I have been giving serious thought to what I can in good conscience donate in addition to quilting from stash. There's some stuff that was donated to me that I thought at the time "you've got to be kidding!" and I'm carefully checking whether it is in fact not so old it has dry rot, will it be colorfast, etc. am I really going to do this or that project. Teeny, tiny difference I think in amount of stash on hand.

I'm all in again this year. I moved out over 50 yards of fabric last year and didn't make a dent! I recently spend a week and half with a friend in SC and we went to a quilt shop. I only purchased 3 fat quarters that will work with the piecing I am currently doing so I think it will be moved out quickly. I'm not opposed to buying fabric if I need it, but will first check ( and double check) to see what I have on hand that might work.

I came to the QB this morning feeling kind of blah - I've not done much in the sewing room and was just going to write a short "duty" post here and what did I open the thread to? Amazing stories of plans and progress and ideas for destashing and I just want to say thank you for helping to boost my spirits and enthusiasm! You are all amazing! :-)

I have my quilting group next week and am hoping to be able to resist acquiring TOO much from the free table - while I'd like to say I'm not even going to look, I choose not to tell a lie! Life has got in the way of my plans to completely reorganize my stash before this meeting but I think I know what could be "reasonable" acquisitions if I can't resist entirely. Now I'm just going to hope that nobody brings stuff in that category so I can have the fun of peeking without the guilt of a weighed-down bag when I leave!
