My name is Paula and I am a Fabriholic. I just fell off the wagon. But let me explain! While viewing another post here on the Board about Mission Organization (at least my fabric and sewing room IS pretty organized ), I saw a quilt on a long arm frame........check out this post: http://www.quiltingboard.com/mission...m-t210196.html . That quilt just spoke to me and I HAVE to make it. So I bought only what I need to make it and will use some solid white I already have in the stash. So help me pick myself up, dust myself off and move on, please. I'll be good, I promise.

Paula..u so funny, but that's what we are here for, to help you dust yourself off and tell u its all going to be ok.
Now Carry Now......

Abby's mom...I did the same thing last summer, made a pile of all my ufo's, then needed to dig out stuff for swaps I was obligated to, then it was time to start thinking about Christmas...sheesh what a way to over whelm yourself... Now be the brave woman that you are and get back in that rm..lol

craftiladi 01-18-2013 08:08 AM

I am proud to report I haven't bought any fabric since Oct. But boy did I stock up before putting myself on this no buy stuff. I am plugging away at UFO's.
p.s. one way to not buy fabric..go on a buying spree of vintage machines-lol

OK, Ladies and Gents. I promised to not buy any more fabric but this week..... I had a former colleague give me yards and yards of the most beautiful fabric. She married a widower who's wife was a quilter. He doesn't know what to do with all of her stash. Now, isn't that a silly comment!:D I jumped in line and volunteered to take it off their hands. I have already picked out the choices of pattern and fabric for two quilts. Since this will be a long week-end for me, Martin Luther King day off, I plan on finishing the top for at least one of those two new projects! Lucky me and I did not have to pay a dime!

Earthwalker, you are to be commended - velvets and brocades must have been hard to pass on.

Paula, I assume you bought only the fabric needed for the quilt and none for your stash. Not quite stashbusting, but at least not stash adding.

Kay, JoAnn's has some darling prints in their flannels and you do have a use for yours, so you get a star, too.

I've started decluttering my bedroom. I keep finding more fabric I don't remember buying. In the bedroom??? Two sewing roms are full. Yikes!!!

craftiladi - thank you for your words of encouragement!! Tomorrow I promise the finished top comes off the design wall and then I tackle 1 UFO. Can't start something new until something old is finished!

I'm loving the comments on this thread! I think I've already fallen off the wagon, and it hit me on the way by! O.O

I ordered fabric off of here. But... but... but it's Girl Scout fabric, and it goes with another piece of GS fabric I already have, and it will go into a GS tee-shirt quilt that I need to make so I can advertise that I make them. That doesn't count against me, right?

Between the UFO thread & this one, maybe I'll reach break-even on quilts vs. materials in 2013?? A girl can hope, can't she? :D

I defrosted the upright freezer in the lower level today and needed another heavy duty laundry basket in which to temporarily store frozen food outdoors. I think today's high temp was 19 degrees F. without any wind.

Long story short: emptied the basket of fabric to sort and handle. This is another example of how I do not need to purchase my fabric. The scraps will be cut up and yardage will be folded and put away. I will begin this project in twenty minutes when my TV program has finished. :-) Thanks for being here to courage members and lurkers. Tomorrow, I will sew on some burp cloths and try to do some piecing of the paintmejudy mystery train ride for 9 patch scrappy. Progress being made, fun happening, and satisfaction increasing.

How far are you on the mystery train? I'm on step 2. I had a problem choosing fabric A because I didn't know who the recipient of this quilt would be.
