Here it is, November 1, the official end of the 2013 Moratorium, but we will keep checking in till the end of the year. How did everyone do in October? I had no sooner gifted about 25 yards to a new quilter, when I happened on the mother of all garage sales, and replaced that and more, so I didn't do so well. Don't have any plans for more purchases in November, but those black Friday sales have nabbed me in the past :(, so we will see!

Being good, and will try to continue..I DO have to get a bolt of tea-stained muslin for the quilt my dd wants..hoping to use a coupon for that..otherwise will be good for a while longer.

I plan to only buy what I need for projects and possibly a few remnants I know I can use for the rest of the year. I have so much sewing I need to get done before Christmas! I didn't get my Humira shot this week (long story), but I have it in hand and will be getting my first dose on Monday. I am very hopeful that it's going to help a lot so I will feel up to all that I need to get done.

Speaking of all I need to get done....

I'm looking for project ideas for something. I have 8-9 people that work in the man's office that we have to give something to. It's traditional that all the professors in the department make a donation to the pot, which is then split between all of the admin people, and the department chair (which would be the man) puts something with it from him. Well, last year I made mug rugs and that went over great. I'm just not sure what to make this year. If 3 of them weren't men (1 of them single) then it would be easier, since women like all sorts of household items. I told the man last year that unlike the previous chair, I wanted to do everything I could to be sure that whatever we gave them was useful to the recipient instead of just their spouse. It doesn't have to be Christmas themed either. The mug rugs I made last year were mostly beach themed. I could make the ladies something girly and the men something else, and I've considered a travel cord keeper pouch with a monogram or something techie on it & a grill towel that hooks on your grill & has a cookout themed item embroidered on it. Of all the scouring online the last few weeks, nothing else seems interesting so far. So, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

DustysMomma, This might not be a good idea but everyone can surely use towels in their kitchen. Buy some nice plain fabric kitchen towels and then do an applique with Heat 'N Bond or something similar. A sunflower, fish, rooster or perhaps some picture that might be on a scrap of fabric you have stashed. Iron it on and then machine applique around it. If you felt generous, you could do two per gift. I would think even a bachelor has to dry his dishes or some of them??? I can find one I have and post a picture but PM me to remind me because I may not check back in for a couple days. :-)

I don't remember buying any fabric in October ! So either i have a faulty rememberer, or I was really good. Oh, great! It took me 11 months to do it right! I'm in for next year, meet cha all for round two!

No fabric purchased in October for me, but none used up either. Where does the time go?

Oh goody - a moratorium from the moratorium. That saves my bacon as I went on the quilt retreat in Pismo Beach and the one LQS had 20% off the whole stock and the other one had the colors I "needed" - what's a girl to do but shop?

Black Friday, Small Business Saturday (LQS!!!!), Cyber Monday... Will you be naughty or nice?

Emma S 11-26-2013 05:52 AM

I've already been naughty to the limit of my budget. The last sale at JoAnn's was good for me. Keepsake at 50% off and batting (that I actually needed) for 40% off. Tis the season of the sale, I'm afraid of what Dec and Jan may bring. Okay Princess, time for you to confess.
