I'll get back with you on Tuesday!

Well, here it is Tuesday. I <blush> shopped all 3 days. I felt that on small business Saturday, it was my civic responsibility to show my financial support for my LQS!

Looking back over 2013, I feel I did pretty well. Not perfect, but better than previous years and I did stop and think about each purchase rather than impulse shop. How did everyone else do overall, and do we want a 2014 challenge???

I too have had a pretty slim purchase history in 2013. The few items I did purchase were for specific projects or light neutrals for background fabric- no batting purchases either- working from the stash. So overall it was a good year.

I'd like another year. I think it helps keep me aware of my purchases before I make them. I did buy some on sale batiks in Nov but I think they are going to my daughter for Christmas.

I had so much fun talking to you guys about our fabric journey, but to be honest, all I can do is hope to cut back. No chance of no purchases. Someone started a thread called the Moratorium on the fabric moratorium where we could share all our splurges and explore the joys of a stash that is taking over the house. If you guys will allow me to come along for the ride, I would love to follow the Moratorium thread.
Princess congrats on the successful support of small businesses! How about if we fall of the wagon we have to show pictures of our shame. Oh wait would that be like wallowing in our vice?

I need another year of moratorium! I need to hone my enabling skills. I also need to quit buying and start quilting. I just bought fabric and patterns to make a baby quilt for my new dgd due on May 5th. Some on sale, most not. I know I'm going to j'a's tomorrow. Will resist buying! I already have too much! On small business saturday i took dh to my lqs to get my big brother, Ashley, cleaned, and to pick out my gift.......( wait for it)................a new serger! Yay! His name is Sergei' and he is of Viking origins. Oooo, he's handsome! Thanks, sweetie! Lololol

Nancia: Have you ever had a serger? I am embarrassed to admit I have one that has never been used. I bought a basic serging class from Craftsy in the hope that I will learn to use it.

Does buying at garage sales count? If it does, I didn't do very well with the moratorium but I did find some terrific fabric sales at those garage sales! :). I only bought fleece this year from Joann's because I needed it for an annual charity fleece blanket tying event. My biggest pitfall this year was buying different sizes of rulers/squares and a few different sizes of cutting mats.

Emma! I swear we are related!! 25 yrs ago i bought a serger, positive i would use it every day for the rest of my life. I took out the directions, started to read them, or at least i tried, put them back in the box, took the box back to the store, they said, sorry. No returns. For the next twenty three yrs i moved that heavy, sealed box everywhere we went. Two years ago a friend asked if i knew anyone who wanted to get rid of a serger. She knew a young mother, blah, blah, blah.... I said, pay the postage and it's yours. It has never been out of the box and it's at least 20 yrs old. So away it went.
Now, I'm thinking, hey, I could use a serger. Hum the theme song to the twilight zone quietly to yourself! I will take the free class at the dealer, and I will freakin learn to use this thing! I'm gonna be serging everything, watch out! Here i come, pedal to the floor and I'm serging some more! Woo hoo!

Wow, sergers. Same as everyone else. HAD to have one, got a good deal on a White. Never used it... I think I wasn't motivated enough to figure out the threading. It's in the original box in the basement. My sister got the really expensive one with the vacuum threading and uses hers all the time. If I really need something serged, I go to her house!

Okay now your guys have really motivated me. New Years resolution learn to use that machine.
