Wow! Quilter Momma...even if you just finished 5-6 of the ones in your list, I would be impressed. When we get new carpeting next year, I have to move EVERYTHING out of my sewing room so I will have time then to count up all my UFO's. Aargh. I hate to think how many I have but under 20. This has been a fun year of having you all aboard the UFO train. I have appreciated getting to know you all better and seeing all that you have accomplished. Hope 2016 will be an even better year for getting things done. :-)

happylab 12-29-2015 09:20 PM

Very impressive list Q.M. I will be cheering you on to get them completed next year. I'm looking forward to the pics.

Enjoyed the lovey quilts completed.

I don't have any ufo's quilts done in a while. I am working on 2 projects right now. One is a Royals baseball quilt for my hubby and the other is a doll quilt for my sister. Both s/h be completed by the end of next month. I haven't seen much in the last 3 weeks. I've been too busy (like everyone else). I did sew and iron for a few hours today, making some progress on both projects.

oksewglad 12-29-2015 09:22 PM

QMomma. You are going the right direction....you have a list...guess. I have to start counting...

carriem 12-30-2015 04:38 AM

I need to get my list updated too!! I didn't get a lot of sewing done in 2015, maybe 2016 will have a little more free time. lol :)

WMUTeach 12-30-2015 05:46 AM

Question to all here. Will be be starting a new group for 2016? Starting the group up again from scratch or will be just continue with this thread and change the name to UFO 2016? I really want to keep being connected to others who are pushing ahead to complete those precious unfinished pieces.

Skip my question..... I found the answer in post # 878. See you soon... packing my bags to join the train!

WMUTeach 12-30-2015 05:48 AM

Let's say six for me this 2015 year. Two done immediately in 2015 then got involved in several new quilts. Finished four more that were is some stage of progress at the beginning of 2015.

SandyinZ4 12-30-2015 05:42 PM

FINAL TOTAL IS 302!!!!!
Hurray to everyone. After adding WMUTeach's 6 ufo's finished for 2015, to 296, the total is 302! Way to go everyone. 302! What a lot of projects completed. I am posting this and then Janice will start the new thread so look for it on the main board. As soon as she posts a link here, I will have the admin. close this one off. Thanks you so much to all of you who participated. Happy New Year to all of you and may you complete many more UFO's in 2016.

donac 12-31-2015 04:12 AM

302is a wonderful total. I have not contributed but have been reading and plan to add to 2016 list. Congratulations to everyone who finished a quilt

SandyinZ4--I have been following this link all year as my goal for 2015 was just UFO with a couple of new quilt requirements such as a college graduation quilt for my husbands cousin, 2 new grandchildren, our best man at our wedding's who had a heart attach quilt, a couple of quilt block swaps, and quilted tops from another cousin on my long arm.

On Jan 1, 2015 I had something like 25 UFO's, 22 quilt tops, and not going to count the kits that had not been started. I will do an official count tomorrow but I think I finished at least 6 and then 6 of the quilt tops.

The reason I didn't comment until today? Well, I had a goal of learning to attached photos to the board for 2015 but did not meet that goal at all! So here I am today commenting and wishing all of you a Happy New Year and will hopefully meet my goals for 2016.
Thanks for the great conductor and look forward to our new 2016 conductor.
Karen

Happy New Year's Eve! Thanks SandyinZ4 for hosting.

I finished 6 items in December.

5 were baby quilts that volunteers sewed that needed to be enlarged/decreased to the size requested by a charity. We still need to get the word out to all of the volunteers that the quilt tops should be in a certain size range. Lol! I adjusted the size, added a cotton batting to the fleece ones, pillow-turned, top stitched, and tied them. On the batik looking one, I sandwiched it with a fusible batting that was in a donation and quilted it with curvy lines and bound it.

The red, white, and blue one has been hanging on my design wall since this summer. I worked on it off and on and it is only a top. It will be handed off to my church's quilting group next week but it is a DONE project for me. :).

Connie
Oops! Sorry I didn't make them smaller.

zozee 12-31-2015 04:58 PM

So, Connie, are these in ADDITION to the count of 302 above, or had you already included them before posting the pictures?

retiredteacher09 12-31-2015 05:43 PM

These are in addition to the 302. I just finished the red, white, and blue quilt top last night. The others were done earlier this month.

Connie

Oh, no! I just realized that the WIP quilt behind my red, white, and blue scrappy shows through and makes some of the whites look gray!

This is my last UFO which is now a FO. :) I named it Talitha Cumi (tuh-LEE-thuh KOO-me) which means "Little Girl, Arise." It is used in Mark 5:41 by Jesus and means "Little girl, arise." This past summer a dear friend of mine received the devastating news that her baby girl , six months old at the time, had brain cancer. This was the verse that she has held onto for the past six months as Sophia has been in and out of the hospital.

I was in Ohio at the time I heard the news of her diagnosis-- on vacation at my niece's house. My niece has the unique name of Talitha. She makes and sells children's clothes. I was trying out her Janome Skyline, sewing together bright strips of scraps, which turned out to be this string quilt. It seemed quite fitting to name the quilt Talitha Cumi.

The back is pink doggie print flannel because Sophia loves dogs and because flannel is warm and cozy. I gave it to my friend for the baby's 1st birthday on Dec. 17th. She was very touched.

I guess this is number 303 in the count here on the UFO thread?

retiredteacher09 12-31-2015 06:06 PM

309 with my 6 added in.

Way to go, quilter's!

Connie

Janice McC 12-31-2015 06:33 PM

You all are working right down to the wire. I'm impressed!!! Wonderful finishes quilters!

Hope the new 2016 thread will be up soon!

SandyinZ4 12-31-2015 08:44 PM

Okeveryone...it is still Dec. 31st here in Idaho and only 2 hours to go until 2016 so with the total being 302 plus Buglady's 12, retiredteacher09's and zozee's 1...that makes the total 321!!!! I would say that is a good record to try and beat for 2016! Looking forward to the new thread.

SandyinZ4 01-01-2016 02:54 PM

Just a note to everyone..We are waiting for approval from the admin. folk for the new thread to get posted. With the holidays, it is a bit longer than usual. Janice and/or I will put a link here as soon as we see that it is up and running.

yonnikka 01-01-2016 04:52 PM

Hi, QuilterMomma, can you transfer or copy/paste this massive list over to the 2016 UFO Challenge? I just signed up for the coming year, and want to follow your progress on this list and see photos of your finishes. Thanks,

Nechama117 01-02-2016 06:16 AM

Relaxing with my coffee on my day off from work, I found this section of the QB. Spent at least an hour enjoying the beautiful quilts. I have 4 tops to finish and I work so slowly. However I am inspired since there are other quilts I want to begin. Will continue to watch the progress.

Hop on over there and sign up, post your list of UFOs, or just stop in to say hello!

weasier22 01-03-2016 01:44 PM

Hi everyone! Well I didn't get as many UFOs done in 2015 as I had hoped, but I'm going to make another attempt to complete some of them this year. I am currently working on making scrappy quilts for our vehicles as we are finally having a winter here in Nevada!!! It's been cold and I hate the thought of any of us getting caught in traffic without a quilt to keep us warm. I have 4 of them to make & I'm actually almost finished with the first one. I'm using fleece as backing. And then I have two cousins who both have lung cancer and are going through chemo/radiation. I will be making each of them a quilt. After all of these, I can start on my UFOs. I enjoyed seeing all the beautiful quilts you all finished last year! Quite an accomplishment. Wishing you all the best in 2016 and happy quilting!

AUQuilter 01-10-2016 04:32 AM

Well, just now getting to posting the pics... although finished in 2015 I am posting in the 2016 section. Thanks for setting this up. It does motivate me.

Zozee, that's a lovely quilt and very touching story. I pray that baby will recover and live a long and happy life. Your gift was undoubtedly a great comfort and encouragement to them.
