My heart will be with you on Friday, Iceblossom. It is so hard to lose a loving pet, but we don't want them to suffer just so we can have them with us a little longer.

I finished up the baby quilt top, and that one is ready for the longarm. My sunflower fabric came from fabric.com yesterday afternoon. Can't say I love it, the backing is pretty awful, in my opinion, but the quilt is not for me, so my opinion doesn't matter. The companion fabric for the front is fine, but I had a heck of a time finding coordinating fabric in my stash. I finally found a yellow I forgot I had, a small amount of green, and a brown that works for 9 patches, then the sunflowers will be alternating. I had 2" of brown to spare, so no narrow border with it, as I had planned.

That is a neat idea for piecing backing, may have to try that sometime.

Prayers being sent, Iceblossom.

Iceblossom, my thoughts are with you this week. I'm glad you have had time to say goodbye. My last one was quick, which is both good and not so good. My current dog is 13, but, so far, she's in great condition. She won't be if I don't walk her more. I had to cut this evening's short. I had had a cortisone shot in my hip an hour earlier and walking wasn't going well.

No sewing today. I'm starting to have withdrawal symptoms.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. Got up around 3:30 this morning so still a few hours left with Sandy, it's time.

Here's pictures of the finished Confetti top and back. The batik doesn't photograph so well, I think it looks better in real life and I will be making the binding with it. I put on the bands incorrectly, I really liked the way Irishrose2 had the fillers offset. But I'm fine with the woven effect.

It came out great, Iceblossom. Cute backing too.

More fabric used up, and creatively, too, Iceblossom.

A bit lonely but feeling better today. The other dog and the cat are still here which is good because the hubby is going to be working all weekend, no Sunday bowling date this week :(

I haven't done the block sewing on the Scrap Metal fabric but I measured the long oddly shaped piece of yardage I wanted to use for the sashing. Had really gotten invested in the idea of using that fabric. It was way too small for my first choice of 2.5" cuts, but it was just enough at 2". As it turned out, I was 4" short of perfection plus a good sized piece of narrow scrap that could be pieced to make the 2 sashing bars I was short! And part of the reason I wanted to use that fabric is because it would make any seams just disappear which is good because you can't tell they are pieced unless you feel it.

When I lost my rottie a few years ago, I still had a great dane. I adopted them both at the same time, and they were pretty much inseparable. When the rottie had knee surgery, the dane would stand close to him and hold him up. Anyway, when I had to put the rottie down, Heidi was just lost without him, and spent the first night sleeping in his bed. She refused to eat for days. When I had to put her down, I went 5 months without a dog. That was a sad time till I decided I was ready for a new buddy. I got my present Dane, and he is just a wonderful pal.

Well, I have the outdoorsy quilt ready to bind, and the baby quilt too. Will do that this afternoon or tomorrow. I still have the sunflower quilt to combine the rows. That is next. I want to get them in the mail Monday or Tuesday at the latest.

I am noticing some pretty good gaps in the stacks of fabric, and I was able to combine the rest of the layer cakes and jelly rolls into one file drawer. Well, not really ALL of the precuts, but at least the ones that have matching fabric. I try to keep them separated from the other precuts, and the yardage is separate from the rest of the stash too, so I don't use one or the other accidentally on something else.

When I get these 3 quilts finished I can get back to the 2 that need to be assembled. Then I think I will just play around with something after that, maybe something Christmasy.
