The quilt I finished & gifted to my friend in hospital this week took up a few yards of fabric, all from stash. I dont think I measured it before gifting it, so I dont have a total of fabric out the door. All the fabric for it came from stash, including the batting so no new purchases for it. Even the thread was some I already had. Sadly though, I seem to be in s "no sew mojo" mood, so I pulled out some knit UFOs & worked on those. One is a no-pattern sweater that I put away more than a year ago for my Year of Quilting. I finished so many quilting projects last year but few yarnie ones. I have a much larger yarn stash than fabric, so it's time to use some of it in finished projects. I'm sure I'll quilt soon though.

Getting fabric used creativity is sure fun...keep it up everyone. You know the moratorium is pointless if we don't sew our fabric into useful items!
My big block project is on the LA...hope to get it done today. Yesterday I started cleaning in my sewing room and man it just reinforces the fact that I have plenty of material for some beautiful quilts.

I so agree seeing all the ways and ideas that people have of using up the stash. Only problem is, I would love to see some of these projects. We need to have touch and feel on these screens, lol, you know how fabric likes to be petted. Anyway, any start no matter how small is a start.

And thank you SillySusan, every fresh day is another day we have to work with, so we need to do all we can and the best we can because we can't have "do overs". I think all of you are an inspiration in one way or another, its nice to have strangers that don't feel like strangers.

Ah AnngelAnne, I need to get pics taken, but than takes time as I don't have a smart phone and have to take the picture, download it, resize it if necessary etc and I have a busy week ahead of me...will try to get pics after Easter. Meanwhile I'm plodding through the sewing area to get it organized.

Also because my husband was afraid I would be having withdrawals, he bought me a $200 gift certificate to a local quilt shop. Grrrr....... I don't want more fabric!!!

I am spending the next 10 days with my oldest daughter 6.5 hours from home and I am using it as a quilt retreat!!

You could use the gift certificate to have a quilt or two quilted, if they offer that service. I certainly would.

Or, if this quilt shop services machines, maybe use it on a cleaning and then have some left over?

Probably safer for my own ego if I don't have a smart phone, then I can continue I have smart qualities from time to time, but I don't have any type of cell phone. It does take time to do all that with pictures, so I am patient, you just take your time. I will take a picture as well of my project when I finish it. I did finish a bits of yarn baby blanket as I have several odd balls of leftover as I do material. That is what this forum has done to help me. No more buying of yarn as well. I as well am plodding thru my sewing area, at times its like Christmas.

Those suggestions you two ladies gave for using a gift certificate to a local quilt shop are wonderful, smart thinking.

I finished my Good Fortune mystery quilt, quilted and the binding machine stitched to the front, still have to do the hand part. Best part the whole quilt is from my stash- the top is all scraps, the backing I found on the bottom shelf of the fabric shelves, was perfect, the binding actually matched the backing and was already made- and in a box of rolled up bindings ( I have no idea when I made it or for what project) - I found the shoebox of rolled up binding - most left over from binding other quilts- in a tote that had been buried for months ( years?)
And, while digging through that bottom shelf I found 4 more backings so I’m going to load up another ufo. It is so nice to be getting things done again and to find I do have everything I need. I’m looking at my ( stuff) with a better attitude- seeing it better. I think getting rid of all those scraps and decluttering has certainly helped. I still have 3 or 4 Big projects I have to get serious about- either get them out and finish them or be realistic and let them go. But while they are in the back of my mind I will continue quilting all those tops that have been sitting around.

I live down in a small valley and no cell reception here...half mile and a hill away at our son's 3 or 4 bars show up. Yesterday his wife bought him a phone, so a new "world" is opening up to him...haha.
Yesterday a shop hop winner stopped by with her gift certificate...she bought a couple of rulers, the silicone oven mitt kit, a pattern book or a new mat...a big one or a turning one if you don't have these. There are lots of non fabric options out there, have fun choosing which one!

Here's a link to ck's Good Fortune quilt, AA..post #501. Nicely done, ck! And more backing finds mean more quilts to do!

Another close call! Bluprint had a flash coupon, 60% off any Bluprint exclusive and a 90 piece fatquarter bundle of blenders jumped into my basket for little over $80–. That’s less than $1 per fat quarter. After checking my designated fat quarter storage spot and my studio to do notebook I was reminded that I have no space to store more fat quarters and I have at least a year’s worth of work lined up in my studio finishing already started projects and UFOs. Not to mention this exact same thing happened last month. Several hours after it landed in my basket I deleted it. Whew! This moratorium works!
