So cute! I'm determined to find some time this weekend to at least make a start on these (it's been a while since I did any applique...)

My July penguin....I did reverse the pattern pieces on the one foot as I prefer that look to the original twisted foot.

Your penguins are so cute, thimblebug! I love them! I'm downloading each month and hope to start once I have a few more UFOs done.

NZquilter, love to see them whenever you get started...I am retired and with stay-at-home lifestyle have time to sew anytime...enjoy your young family ...sewing will wait 😀😀

So I made a start - I've pulled my fabrics for both the penguin block patterns I have (3 & 4), and marked up my HeatnBond for both. I got as far as cutting out the shapes for Mr Bowtie-and-Earmuffs (3), but haven't appliqued him down yet.
Really enjoying this one. Hope to make more progress during the week... (I have a little one to look after too :-)) |
Panchita, enjoy your young ones....as I mentioned above I am retiired so have time on my hands

Panchita, not sure if you know this or not, but if you wanted the previous block patterns you can purchase them for a small fee from her site. I have never done this, but I see the charge is just $2 Cdn.

Hi Thimblebug, and thank you for the info. $4 CDN for the two I've missed seems more than reasonable, bearing in mind I'm hoping to get the rest of it for free!!! I'll be sure to get them at some point soon.
I have progressed a bit with my two current blocks. I've done 98% of the applique on the hockey player (not done the cheeks yet - ran out of time!) and am really pleased with it. Not started appliqueing Mr Bow Tie yet. It's been a while since I appliqued so I had to spend more time than I anticipated reacquainting myself with how my machine and I work it - I've forgotten which stitch I used to use for applique (for reasons unknown my machine doesn't have a simple blanket stitch or similar) so I experimented with various different stitches, and think I've settled on one. Though I may change my mind as we go on... https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png |
I have been using my satin stitch for this project, with a rayon thread
