SuzSLO, why did you have to trim again after removing the paper? Did your units stretch?

Your blues are fabulous!

People on Quiltville seem to be expecting another clue, and some were saying we haven't used enough red. I would not be surprised at all if we get the reveal, which have always come with lots of directions for finishing work and often with another unit or two to make. But that was back when Bonnie was always rushing off to someplace or another to teach and wanted to move on, so maybe she will string the mystery out longer this year.

I trimmed to the finished size with the paper attached, then found that after I removed the paper, each block was anywhere from 1/16” to 1/4” too long. So I trimmed again before I attached the corners. I think it was just because of all the seams. Maybe heavier paper would have provided a better foundation.

Beautiful work, SuzSLO and Macybaby.

SuzSLO, those look nice, I like those blues.

I went through my small tub of neutral scraps and was able to cut enough triangles to finish the clue. Sure felt good to empty out the tub!

Using up your scraps really does feel good. I started using up scraps for the string pieces, but then had to cut more to finished the project. At the end, I ended with more than I started.

Her blog this morning was very powerful. She wrote:

“Quilting is the thread that can tie us together.

Quilting is the medium in which I throw myself when my world is in turmoil.

I quilt. In the best of times, and the worst of times.

"It's not wise to post political things!" some will say.

Maybe so.

But it's not political. It's moral. It's about decency, and respect.”

I quilted as I listened to the horrifying news from yesterday. Keeping my hands busy had a calming effect for me.

@sewbizgirl she posted that yesterday on her personal FB page. She has every right to post whatever she wants on her personal FB page. Someone decided to share it on her business FB page, which was not OK. She posted about it today on her blog: https://quiltville.blogspot.com/2021...ords-fail.html

I'd have been surprised if the unfriend me message had been posted on the blog or on Quiltville, especially on Quiltville, since that is expressly forbidden to be political. I'm glad to know it was intended for those acquaintances personal enough to be her FB friends. That makes much more sense.

I'm inching along. Here is my clue 5. I followed Queenbarbiej's example, and kept my fabrics consistent within my 9-patches. Since I prefer working with short strips, I used 12 greens and oranges, and a different neutral for each. I went more colorful with my neutrals on this clue -- hope it works out!

So I have to finish my strings and cut and add the neutrals -- probably too much for me to finish today, but I should be close to caught up for the clue tomorrow.
