Good job, everyone! It's nice to see those early blocks again. Never too late to start! :-)
I've used my weekends (that's when I sew) in July to put together a twin size quilt for my granddaughter. I hope to get back to these blocks before long!

Great block, Connie! Givio, hope you can come back and play with us again soon.

Caught up! Wahoo!

Blocks 13, 14, and 15

I am going to a county fair tomorrow and I am looking forward to the quilts on display in the open class and 4-H areas. The 4-Hers are way more advanced in making quilts than I was at that age! Lol! Of course, that was 47 plus years ago and my mother's machine was basic.

Love those blocks, Connie. You have passed me up! We had a really sad death of a friend this past week, and I've fallen behind. The young man was a 21yo fireman who just got married in May! It tore up the whole town. 2500+ were at the funeral... fireman from all over the state and tons and tons of friends and family. It was the saddest and also the most beautiful funeral I have ever attended. May he rest in peace.

I will do this week's block soon. I'm going to try and find a way to cut those neutrals in one piece, rather than seam in the 1" pieces. I just really don't like that construction. It bugs me.

I'm loving these blocks.

Nice blocks Connie. Bonnie , Such a sad loss for you and your town. I also didn't like making the rectangles on the ends of the flying geese. The seams show too. Doesn't look right or feel right to make them this way. Same with the checkerboard. Seems like the colors are laid out wrong somehow. Just my opinion.

I agree with construction issues, but scrappy is scrappy. and I am fine with the way it is going.

I guess I am too. I already made it,and not gonna redo it. Life's to short to sweat the small stuff. lol Have a good evening all.

To avoid the sewn on pieces, you could cut a
2 1/2" x 3 1/2" rectangle, and sew and flip a 2 1/2" square across one corner. Similar to the sew and flip method of making flying geese. You would need one and one reverse for each side. The seam would be where the two triangles meet.

Thank you for the compliments.

Sewbizgirl: Sending prayers your way. That's just so sad and a newlywed to boot. :(

I am skipping around making the blocks, while I find the other colors I need. Block 13 - Double Star didn't look that hard. OOPS! I forgot how to make QST's and naturally, since I don't read the directions, it's a bit harder than it should be. After reading a couple of different methods, I got the outside blue and neutrals done. Then the final part to put together was the red and neutral QST's around the center block. I made 4 beautiful blocks. Darn! I put the wrong neutral in them. Now I have 4 babies waiting for a new home. I made sure I had the right fabric and sewed them again. Here's block 13 in all it's glory.
