Nice! Maybe I should try a bunch of smaller projects

LydiaAlicia: Nice projects. I like your colored picture blocks.

QuilterMomma: I am thinking I need to make another 'orphan' block quilt too.

mfay: Great idea using the mistakes for dog quilts. I really should do that with some of my scraps for the areas that cats lay on around my living room. The fabric I have on those areas really grab their hair. Maybe regular cotton would work better.

oksewglad: I hope you got your sorting done. I have been thinking of you as you were making great memories with your family all here for some of this month.

Whoa it took me 2 afternoons to sort through the bag, Connie...had lots of "precuts"...2.5, 2, and 1.5" strips. But it was a good sit down activity after a full week of family.

We had a great time..fixed lots of food...enjoyed fresh beans, broccoli, cucumbers from the garden. Often times we ate in shifts as the little ones from the East were on a different time schedule than we are. When kids are hungry they can be ornery! Well big ones can be too! My DIL makes the best quiche...better with farm fresh eggs and milk with fresh kale instead of spinach. MrOK teases her...telling her "well I guess I have to eat it, cuz you made it!" She knows he really likes it. The kids play so hard when here. Over the weekend we had 16 kids under the age of 17 (11 of them 9 and under) 14 young adults, and 10 of the old folks (me included in that group) Lots of tears when everyone heads for home as there is never enough time. We try not to make much of the petty stuff...it's not worth spoiling the little bit of time we have together. Here are some of them getting ready to play bale tag. Our two sons are there to "supervise".

OKsewglad, What a wonderful family! How I envy you! Looks like everybody was having a great time!

oksewglad: Bale tag? I will need to ask my great nieces if they play that at their grandparent's farm.

I am glad you got the bag sorted. Precuts are always nice to have around.

Looks like summer fun was had by all. Great family time

O.K. I want to know. What are the rules for Bale Tag?

oksewglad 08-11-2018 01:39 PM

Kelsie...I have no idea...maybe one of those made up games the kids like to play...then again maybe it's just like tag, but on big round bales of hay:D. These bales are up to our son's...a half mile and a hill away!

...apparently I was not successful in resizing the other picture. will post that one shortly

I'm plodding along making a couple every week or so. Now I have a system. Every block has eight wedges of red. Then I came across a post on pintrest about how to do an inset circle using freezer paper, tried it, and was hooked. So now I actually have a plan for a quilt. Obviously all the blocks would be different, but essentially, this is what it would look like.
