Will we be able to count items we have kitted, ready to take to the machine? If so, I want to be on the list, because there is a whole plastic tub of projects cut, but not one stitch sewn, and they must come before anything else. piecefully, the old one

Kate01 12-29-2010 08:24 AM

I'm ready to start this challenge, I have so many UFO's to work on. Moved from my own place to my daughter's house and space is a problem. This will make me figure out how to manage my space and get those pesky UFO's finished.

Thanks for a good group of helpful quilters and friends.

Jere 12-29-2010 08:32 AM

I need this kind of incentive to get me back on track. I have too many UFO's.

Chip 12-29-2010 08:56 AM

I am new to this so this may sound stupid - forgive me - but what is a UFO?

Up North 12-29-2010 09:03 AM

Un finished object

Dragonfly Nana 12-29-2010 09:04 AM

I will join in on this one. Before I joined this board I did not have any UFOs or WIP but now...........

dgrindey 12-29-2010 09:18 AM

Maybe I'll give it a try----maybe!!

Irene V 12-29-2010 09:28 AM

One of the reasons I have so many UFOs is that I just love to start a new project. It is so exciting to pick the project, the fabric I will use, and start sewing. Then something happens. The excitement and adrenaline rush wear off so there I go running to start another project. I'm really excited about joining this group and maybe, actually, finishing some of my projects.

I'm in!! Not many UFO's but need motivation :D Also love see everyone's finished projects. I belong to a group in the summer at my LQS that meets once a month and to do show and tell there the project needs to be FINISHED and then we get to put our name in for a drawing for quilting related items donated by the shoppe. I miss that incentive and hope this helps!!

Irene I think you and I are twins.

Seashell 12-29-2010 09:57 AM

I'm new to this board and would like to join those of you who are planning to finish UFOs this year. I won't promise a total of 12 but any finished project is a good project in my book. hummm which one should I start with?

marcias 12-29-2010 10:02 AM

welcome, the old one, I'll look fwd. to seeing those sewn together. :-)

I have the same problem. New projects are very alluring, aren't they? I'm in on this challenge. Can't wait to get some things completed!

bonnielass 12-29-2010 10:17 AM

I have a couple of UFO's. I'll play until I am caught up.

MisDixie 12-29-2010 10:22 AM

On my second day of sorting and cleaning in my sewing room. Found a few UFO's so I am in.

the old one 12-29-2010 10:48 AM

Well, Marcia, I have laid several on the table in the den--right beside the jigsaw puzzle that has had all my spare (and some that wasn't spare) time the past three days. Haven't decided if I will finish one all the way, then start on another, or skip around--what would you do? piecefully, the old one

angelbaby 12-29-2010 11:16 AM

I would like to join this challenge I have plenty of UFO's looking forward to getting them done.

Hen3rietta 12-29-2010 11:45 AM

I'll play. I took a closer look at my quilting list and realized that I only have 5 actual UFO's. The ones I've started and really really really don't feel like finishing. The remaining 25+ are all WIPs and as yet uncut PIGs although 11 of the WIPs are just waiting for quilting so I guess they would qualify as well.

You're probably asking the wrong person. lol I have over 35 UFOs. I find that if I skip around, I get confused, so in the past couple of months I worked on one til it was done then started working on another I had almost finished, then started something new from the board, then finished the 2nd one and will now start on finishing what I started from the board(is that a UFO since I stopped working on it?)...you get the picture. My mind gets full of chaos if I work or think about more than one, but if I hit a snag and have to let it sit for awhile, I start on another.
;-)

Hi Obx... I really like how you set off my curiosity with your list of UFO's that you plan to do. I will really look forward to seeing the pictures of finished projects and your checking each one off your list. Plus you have one for each month! :-) Wow! That will keep you busy.

Patchworkmarion 12-29-2010 12:17 PM

Dear Craftyone27, I can send you some of mine.

Patchworkmarion 12-29-2010 12:19 PM

I'm up for this.Every year my New Year resolution is the same. Finish my UFOs.This year I'm "fair dinkum"

Rainbow 12-29-2010 12:34 PM

I'm in.....

mhansen6 12-29-2010 01:02 PM

Count me in. I promised myself that I would finish my UFO's this year. This will give me even more incentive.

IBQLTN 12-29-2010 01:30 PM

Gulp! All the way quilted and everything???? I'll give it a shot but I don't machine quilt anything larger than a wall hanging so 'finished' might depend on funds for having it quilted.

toriabelle 12-29-2010 01:50 PM

I'm in. There are too many things I have invested money in to let them lay around and become obsolete.

yonnikka 12-29-2010 02:52 PM

Here's My List of UFO's that are in the Game:
1) Small Brown Log Cabin, for Storytelling: goes with the book by Nicola Bayley called "The Patchwork Cat." In progress: working on Stitch-in-the-Ditch at this time.
2) Blue and Yellow Twin size, Squares are done, sewn into Strips. Will re-think the outer borders...
3 ++) Christmas Quilts (plural) Lots of assorted Star Blocks, Log Cabin Blocks, and others, "PEACE" and 9-Patch.
4) Crib Quilt of Bug Jars on Aqua. Needs to be unstitched in places to remove impossible bulges. Was intended for a grandnephew's birth, but he's going on 4 now... long overdue and must be re-purposed.
If I can get through these, I'll pat myself on the back! And be ready to list some more UFO's...

mysticarri 12-29-2010 03:16 PM

you have given me inspiration - here's to 2011 UFO - into FO's

PeggyT 12-29-2010 03:31 PM

I'm in on this one. Can definitely use the motivation to get alot of the UFO's I have finished. I did start a new quilt last Sunday and finished the top on Tuesday!

CatQuilts 12-29-2010 03:34 PM

I am new to the Quilting Board ... have just been reading posts for a few weeks. This challenge is for me. I have more UFO's than I can put on a list ... the list becomes a "UFL" before I can get everything on it! LOL So, YES, I want to be part of this challenge and I really, REALLY want to succeed. Thanks so much for the encouragement. Now to figure out which UFO to tackle first!!!!!

biscuitqueen 12-29-2010 03:55 PM

Im in maybe with your suport i might get some done. Im new at this and there are things i started and didnt know what i was doing well enough to finish them. I try and do really hard stuff and then it doesnt work the way i want it to.

gramquilter2 12-29-2010 03:59 PM

I'm in too, not sure if I have 12 UFO's to finish but I'm sure there are some somewhere. LOL

JADE D 12-29-2010 04:20 PM

I'm on board. Not too many UFOs but those I have I'm 'stuck'on. However, have 1 graduation quilt, 2 anniversary quilts and 21 Christmas quilts to make before next December. Luckily husband will quilt them on the frame with the 820.

marcias 12-29-2010 04:44 PM

What is LS OBX mystery? (from the list of 12)

Janet My 12-29-2010 04:48 PM

OK, after just posting in another thread and listing the things that need to get done I really have to get going and get these things finished and either out of here or used.

Thanks for starting this. I could really use a kick in the pants right about now.

I may need a few kicks now and then.

Stephany 12-29-2010 04:49 PM

Excellent idea! Count me in, maybe the motivation will help me finish some things.

I also have lots of blocks finished but need to be laid out and sewn together. So that is what I will be working on.
Maybe by joining the challenge I will come nearer getting them done!

\

True. But once you get them back from the LAQ you still have to FINISH it. Put on the binding, finish the corners, sew the binding on the backby hand, put on a label, etc.

marymild 12-29-2010 04:53 PM

I have one UFO that's been around for three years or more. It is a hand quilting project, and I usually just look the other way. I'll see if there a chance I get it down by January 31st. HA!
