This is great. Just what I needed to make me finish some of the many UFO's around my sewing room. Thanks for starting this.

cherrio 12-29-2010 05:05 PM

I don't have the camera accessories to upload! but i will be challenging myself and joining you ladies

CatQuilts 12-29-2010 05:06 PM

I am amazed that there are so many who say they are not sure if they have 12 UFO's OR they KNOW they don't. I'm really ashamed of myself. Be nice to share UFO's and make it equal for everyone, huh? But I am determined to make a dent in my accumulation!!!

Thanks for starting this. I could really use a kick in the pants right about now.

I may need a few kicks now and then.

Hey, Janet, you kick me and I'll kick you and maybe we both will get something done!!!

obxqwlter 12-29-2010 05:50 PM

Marcia

It's my abbreviation for a mystery quilt that "The Little Shop" owner Debbie, did as a mystery for us on the Outer Banks...so LS-OBX mystery :)

WyoMary 12-29-2010 05:59 PM

I don't know how to send in pictures, but I'll join in anyway! Mary

ScrappySal 12-29-2010 06:12 PM

Im delighted to join this group. I agree, having to many unfinished projects is not good for my creativity,,, lets do it!!!!

4girlsmimi 12-29-2010 06:25 PM

I'm going to try this. Heaven knows I have enough UFOs to keep me busy all through 2011 and beyond. Perhaps the encouragement from here will help. Thanks for the push!

Ruby the Quilter 12-29-2010 06:45 PM

Sounds great! Now I'll have to figure out how to attach the picture - sure my DH will do this for me!

biscuitqueen 12-29-2010 06:50 PM

when you figure out how to post pics, let me know this is new to me. what is a DH?

PeggyT 12-29-2010 06:57 PM

I KNOW I have over 12 projects started - 2001-2010 Thimbleberries Quilt Club kits. I have them started for each year and each year I say this will be the year I'll finish one of those quilts! I have 6 years of Buck a Block and each year I had said the same thing when I started it! I have an Irish Chain quilt, a Grandmother's Flower Garden, Tumbler, not to mention at least 3 kids quilts and several others in various stages of being complete. I have two baby quilts that just need the binding done on them! I did just start and finish a quilt top in 3 days and have started working on the Eagle Winter Whisper quilt top yesterday, so again I say this will be the motivation I need :)

njh2351 12-29-2010 07:18 PM

I'll play I have a few to work on!

omak 12-29-2010 08:39 PM

Do we get to post the UFO when we find it? Such as: I have a bunch of quilts cut out - - and, then I have quilt rows waiting ... or do we only post the completed quilt? <wave>

wildyard 12-29-2010 09:07 PM

Count me in, I may have to divide some of my projects into part 1 and part 2, and make them 2 months worth, if that's allowed. I have some that are really in the barely began cutting out stages, so could cutting and piecing be part 1 and backing and quilting/tieing be part 2? LOL..

danece 12-29-2010 10:00 PM

I'M IN, I don't have 12 but I may have 8 so UFO'S, even though I work 55 to 60 hours a week, I try to work on a project at least 3- 5 hours a week or more, I need this to not feel bad when I look in the cupboard to work on a project

kwiltkrazy 12-29-2010 10:03 PM

I'll try to play along, I really need to finish some of my UFO's they are starting to take up too much space.

rona thickpenny 12-29-2010 11:56 PM

I`m in.Great idea.I have loads of ufo.

kari9137 12-30-2010 12:03 AM

I'm in. It's a wonderful challenge. I have some alterations I have to finish for some customers before I start the UFO's (the money helps buy quilting goodies).

quiltedgarden 12-30-2010 01:38 AM

I have so many really great projects bought and stored in drawers and bins. I need the motivation to finish many of these before I buy anything else, except that won't happen. Nothing like friends to keep you challenged and encouraged.

ktmo815 12-30-2010 04:34 AM

I'll try

chrisqlt 12-30-2010 05:59 AM

I'm in! I have been trying to finish UFO as one of my main goals for awhile now. I have put a good dent in it but this list will help me keep on going. I do find that if I have a few at the ready I can pick them up and do a little on them each time I am sewing it moves them along. Often if I say I'll give you fifteen minutes now....once started I stay with it longer than that, it's good!

I also have started writing on my calendar in the sewing room what I was working on for that month. It makes a great diary when you look at the calendar later. It also helps if I'm playing catch up on making labels and can't remember when I finished. I try to remember to honor a finished job rather than beat myself up over all the unfinished ones! More positive! Most of the finished ones go to my kids or grandkids and I forget all the things I have done until I visit their house! What I see at home are things I was working on for me - those get shoved aside when something with a deadline hits the plans. Food for thought! Start your engines!

sewmom 12-30-2010 06:57 AM

I'm in. I didn't get 12 lst year, but I did do 8 and that's 8 more than i would have w/o this challenge. as for which UFO to start first-I would go with an easy one for that feeling of accomplishment right off the bat. I'm all about instant gratification!!

grammyto2 12-30-2010 08:35 AM

Count me in I have 4 tops that need quilted, and I keep setting them aside to start new quilts. I vow to finish them. I have a long arm quilt shop here that rents out time on 2 machines for $15 an hour, I love that shop, I can finish them myself instead of sending them away, and the average twin takes me about 3 hours because I like to quilt very dense.

Rettie V. Grama 12-30-2010 09:30 AM

I'll play! PROBOBLY FOR THE WHOLE YEAR. I'VE LOADS OF UFO'S.

Iris P. 12-30-2010 12:06 PM

I have been reading the message boards for quite a while now and have enjoyed them immensely, but until now I have not written anything or replied to any topics.
With this challenge, however, I too want to join in the hope that all those UFO's that are lurking in the various parts of the house will finally be put to rest!! So you can count me in too!

Thank you for the idea...Iris :-D

Andrea 12-30-2010 12:19 PM

I am drowning in UFO's. This will be a great challenge for me. I also need to learn how to take and send photos.

quiltedgarden 12-30-2010 12:52 PM

ditto for me!!! When is the offical start?

ann clare 12-30-2010 01:04 PM

Count me in. I have plenty to do.

lots2do 12-30-2010 01:20 PM

I'm in. I'm going to take baby steps so my system isn't shocked by the unusual feelings of finishing. I just remembered (as I was adding up a mental list of UFOs), a little project I started for my DMinLaw. It's a window for every month. So that gives me 12 mini projects to start with. Sure would love to get them made for her to enjoy in her nursing home room.
Thanks for starting this!
lots2do

Thanks for clearing up that mystery.
:-)

2livesdown7togo 12-30-2010 03:09 PM

I don't have enough UFO's to last a whole year. Maybe I could start a new challenge to make at least 12 UFO's to join next year?

I could achieve that with no problem...

roserips 12-30-2010 03:46 PM

I will be trying to get one done by the end of January. My guild did it for 2010 and it was a lot of fun and I did get 10 quilts finished! However I still have several to do. Those pesky tops keep making babies in my pile and maybe my sewing room will get clean if I quilt some of them.

Since I am a newbie....what is "LS OBX " and "OBW"?
I learn so much from this board. Would love to join the challenge..only some of my UFO is not quilting...it's crosstitch :(. Although I am starting a very nice stash to start quilting...and the stash keeps growing the longer I look at fabric (online..dangerous..very good prices). Have a Happy New Year everyone and can't wait to see everyone's UFO completed pictures.

I'm new at this also and from reading other messages I decided DH stands for Dear Husband. Once I figure out how to post pictures - I'll let you know. Probably someone out there knows and can help.

Yep, already asked that one.
;) OBW is one block wonder. If you search here on the board you can see some wonderful quilts made of OBW.

Anyone desperate for a UFO? I added mine up and have enough for well into 2012.
I need to keep repeating the motto, Done is better than perfect. New Year's Eve plans fell apart so I plan to work on a Fun and Done that has not been fun. Part of the problem is the black backing. My eyes aren't what they used to be. See eye doc next week. Want to take the FAD to guild on Tues. It will be a donation for our kid's quilt project.
Will we receive information where to post our done projects? Are these called FDP or what? I am trying to learn this new lingo.
Happy stitching

quilterken 12-31-2010 06:16 AM

Oh, I need to join in too. I just cleaned up my quilt studio and found another stack of UFOs. Funny I don't even remember them until I really took a look. I have a lot... wow.... I have tooo many.
I' ve pulled out a winter wall hanging that needs a little quilting to finish and binding. I guess it is about 7 years old.

I really enjoy reading all your ambitious posts. It is my understanding that as you finish things, you just post them and the pictures on this topic line. I do not have time to finish one a month nor do I have 12 UFO's but you all still inspire me to finish or at least make more progress on the 4 quilts I have begun. This is such an amazing group of people. :-)
