Chocolate Chip Picnic Bars
2/3 cup Crisco Shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 cup rolled oats (quick oats) uncooked
1 pkg. (6 oz.) semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 350.
Beat shortening and sugars together until creamy. Beat in eggs and add vanilla. Sift together flour, salt, soda. Stir in flour mixture. Stir in oats, chocolate chips and nuts. Spread dough into a well greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan (I sprayed sides and bottom of pan with Pam original spray)
Bake for 25 minutes.
While warm sprinkle with confectioners sugar and cut into bars. Store in tightly covered container.
I have also added this to my Quilters Recipe Blog so it is now printable.

Your blog is great. Thank you so much. I tried printing out a couple of recipes, but only one recipe (Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cake with Broiled Topping) comes up (not the ones I select). I am guessing this is a glitch that can be fixed easily. Or is it my computer??? That would not surprise me.
