    Default Crock Pot burn

Just a word of warning. i put a Sam's club (walmart) bag of stew into my crock pot. six hours later on low, it was boiling. hmmm. i had smelled something different but not bad. I stirred often.. another 1/2 hr later i considered it done. not eight. later when it cooled, i removed the pot and happened to look into the crock pot sleeve/holder. There was the recipe booklet! with burnt edges. Oh my, getting old is not always fun. the stew was fine though. so beware of the booklet. put it somewhere safe!!

Was the crock pot a new one and being used for the first time? I would have washed the crock pot before using. I'm sure you would have noticed the booklet then!! The last crock pot we purchased does get so much hotter than our others....would hate to burn the house down!

I once forgot to remove the paper/plastic stuff that they put on the bottom of a roast on the tray in the supermarket.

    Things happen.
