What recipes do you use to allow yourself time for sewing? I work full time so only have time to sew on the weekends. What do you put into the oven or crock pot to give yourself time to sew?

I use my crock pot when I work so the kids don't need to cook. On my days off I fix a regular supper. I love roasts and stews in the crock pot.

I seal slices of braising beef in hot oil, put in the crock pot, using the same pan/oil fry up slices of onion, garlic, carrots, celery (briefly) put that in the crock, add strong beef stock a good slosh of red wine, bay leaf, fresh herbs and salt and pepper, leave to cook. About an hour or so before serving throw in some fresh sliced mushrooms. Serve with green beans and mashed potato. Job done, no drama.

We are empty nesters for the moment at least. My husband works but loves to cook, so he cooks Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights I do the rest of the week. Win win situation.

My husband is a meat and potatoes kind of guy. I pop in a roast, potatoes, carrots, a touch of water and some seasoning and walk away. Add some bread and butter and he is very content. I make a big pot so he has leftovers the next day!

Pulled pork sandwiches are a big hit when I am sewing. Pork tenderloin, jar of BBQ sauce, put the lid on the slow cooker and you can forget about it.
6 - 8 hours later I either serve it pulled, on a bun, or pulled with rice. Yum!

Soups and stews... I scour everywhere for recipes and different variations.
Just about any meat recipe you can cook in the oven or on the cook top, will work in the crock pot. I usually just cut back on some of the liquids as they don't seem to evaporate as much.

I pretty much soley cook with the crockpot fall and winter :D:D:D

this is a great site... look down a little and you'll see the crockpot section... I've tried several and have been very pleased... nothing better than dinner done in a hurry to free up sewing time!
