I do love quick and fast recipes. Will definitely try this one. My standard is three ingredients --more than that and I don't want to bother. Of course, I do live alone so that does make a difference in how much effort one puts into cooking--especially when the quilting room is right next to the kitchen.

It is more fun when you share good things...or at least I think so. I have loved the recipes I have tried from this site, and all the quilting tips, as well.

I do not know why diet soda would not work as well as the non-diet. I think I would try it once at least and test it out. I think dried onion mix has other ingredients in it, or maybe that was dried vegetable soup in the picture...just to make it look 'more' colorful and appealing to the eye? Don't we all adapt each recipe to our own taste buds, experimenting a bit...leaving out an item or two and adding what our family likes...making less or making more of something??

I have not found the Campbell's Soup latest product that you add to the Crock pot to flavor it...has anyone tried that?

Yes, diet soda works, as does using 2 different sodas in the same recipe.....such as Mt. Dew and Pepsi, or whatever you have on hand. I try to use up the last of our 2-liter bottles, and sometimes, the "fizz" has gone out of the soda, but they still do the job. I've heard that the soda is used as the liquid in the recipe, and to tenderize the meat. I've even used grape soda, but it gives it a weird color! In my defense, that's all I had on hand at the time.......

It was looking good til I saw the calorie and fat count. Over 800 calories and 56 grams of fat! Can that be right? That's a bit much for us.

I just found a simple recipe for crockpot roast and it's to die for: 1-4-5 # boneless chuck roast, 1 pkg. onion soup mix, 1 pkg. dry hidden valley ranch dressing, 1 pkg. AuJus dry mix and 1 cup of beef broth. Dissolve all the dry mixes in the broth, pour over roast and set on low for 8 hrs. It was on Facebook and it's really great.
