Egg Nog Bread Pudding

Egg Nog Bread Pudding

Bread Pudding ingredients:

4 lg eggs plus 1 yolk
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup milk
4 cups egg nog
3 tbs.bourbon
1 tbs. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 loaf of good quality american style white bread, sliced 3/8 in. by 1 1/2 in. cubes equals 8 cups
1 1/2 tbs. unsalted butter, melted plus extra for greasing pan

Cinnamon Sugar for topping: 2 tbs. sugar, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon/ set aside.

Whisk eggs and yolk, add sugar and blend. Whisk in milk and egg nog, bourbon and vanilla, stir in 6 cups bread cubes, mix to moisten. Let stand 20 minutes.

Pour mixture into 13 x 9 baking dish. Scatter remaing bread cubes on top, pushing down gently to submerge. Brush exposed bread w/ melted butter, sprinkle cinnamon sugar.

Bake at 325 degrees until golden brown and rising on the sides, jiggles slightly at center about 45 to 50 minutes. Let cool until set but still warm.
Can serve w/ whipped cream and a cherry on top.

***Note: adjust oven rack to lower middle position**

I have never care to much for bread pudding but this was soo good thanks so much for sharing

I was telling my Mom (who LOVES bread pudding and egg nog) about your recipe that you posted...and she's begging me to make it!!! Hope mine comes out as good as your recipe sounds!!!

I had not had bread pudding till I ordered it at Appleby's about 2 years ago. It was delicious, but they don't serve it anymore. I am definitely going to try your recipe. I LOVE eggnog, so this should be a favorite.
