Fruit cake recipe using cane syrup
My mother use to make the best fruit cakes. I wish i could have gotten her recipe. I am hoping someone can help me . She would use the dried fruit and homemade cane syrup that she would buy from someone not in the stores. Her fruitcakes were very decorative she would take time puting cherries and pecans on top before baking. We always joked with her because they weighed so much. Hope some one can help me with the old fashion recipe.

Hmmmm.... I might have to try cane syrup myself next year. Here in Florida, it's fairly easy to find. and our supermarkets here carry Argo syrup, which is a blend of cane and corn syrups. It's not quite as strong a molasses flavor.
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one still making fruitcake!

My mother made a fruit cake, that was more like candy. My recipes were lost when we moved recently and I would love to
find another. It was made with coconut, Pecans, candied cherries and candied pineapple...sometimes date pieces.
This was mixed with sweetened evaporated milk, put into pans and baked. A little dab of this will do ya......very rich.
