I would like to thank the member who gave us the recipe for the granola bars. It was a hit with my husband and of course me too. You mentioned you got it from families.com
The recipe said to put it in a square casserole pan, but I made it in a 13 x 9 pan and when I cut it, some of it did not stay together. Could you help me with that?

Did you double the recipe? If you made it in a 9x13 but didn't change the recipe size it was probably just too thin with not enough ingredients. Hence the crumbling maybe. Just not thick enough to hold it together.

I would say your oven was to hot.dried it out before it set.
try lowering the temp or add small amout of liquid to the recipe. If you lower you will need to cook longer to get the result you need. hoped this helped.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees, bake for 15 minutes

Mix together 4 cups oatmeal, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 cup brown sugar in one bowl, set aside.
In another bowl, mix 1/2 cup honey, 1 stick butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and nuts. Then combine the two mixtures. Pour into a greased square casserole dish. Bake.
Let it cool and cut into squares.
(I did not know the size of the dish, so I put it into a 13 x 9 pan. Maybe it should have been a smaller pan because the bars fell apart, but we devoured them.)
You can add marshmallows, any kind of nuts, chocolate chips, caramels, coconut, etc.
Also www.cooks.com has a easy healthy recipe for the bars.

Let me know how they turn out.
