made ahead gravy
I was stressing over cooking Christmas dinner and was looking for make ahead recipes. The make ahead turkey gravy made so much difference when finishing and serving dinner. It came out beautiful and it was stress free. I recommend it for next Thanksgiving dinner.

I also have made this for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. It turned out great. It was a real time saver. It called for 2 turkey wings, and I just used the wings from the turkey--no one eats them anyway. If no one has the recipe, I will post mine in a couple of days. I found it on a recipe site that sends me recipes every day. Happy New Year everyone.

it was simple, roast some chicken wings, I have added couple of turkey drumsticks (my grocery store had), add root veggie, carrots, parsnip, onion, celery, thyme or whatever you like, and then follow direction for making gravy, degreasing, adding flour, broth etc. when cooled put into containers or freezer bags and freeze it. Take it out a day before dinner, keep in fridge till ready to use it, heat it up and at the end I just added some of the juice from baking the whole turkey. That saved me so much.
The turkey drumstick make such delicious dinner.
Hope that this helps.

I do this with the leftover bones after dinner, then freeze in ice cube trays, and store in freezer in Zippered bags, so we can have our favorite turkey and rice when ever we want. We also do this with leftover meat so we can add some with the broth.

Today I put the left over ham bone into a big kettle, covered it with water and let it simmer for hours. I put 4 cups of that broth into a kettle, added 2 cups brown rice and simmered that for 45 minutes. We had that for supper with bits of ham added. Delicious! I could have added green pepper, onion and/or celery, but may do that when we have the leftover leftovers. I put three nice portions into the freezer.
