Does the icing for this cake get hard or does it stay soft? My DH remembers a caramel cake from his childhood where the icing stayed soft and almost chewey but never got hard like most of the caramel cake recipes I have tried. They had a lady in town (Nashville, TN) that would sell them or make them as gifts but never gave out the recipe so it passed with her. So far I haven't found the magic recipe but he doesn't seem to mind eating the experiments. Ann in TN
