I was diagnosed Type II Oct 2010. I checked out all the books on pre diabetes and diabetes from the library. The book I found most helpful was Low-Carb Dieting for Dummies. Wow, it made a huge difference. Six mo later I was back in normal range and doc says if I stay with what I'm doing I've beat diabetes. Didn't know you could beat it but nothing will get back to my old ways. The craving for carbs, sweets, even ice cream GONE!!!! On top of all that good stuff, I have a food plan I devised where I get to have my favorite sandwich daily - a BLT. If I'd known life could be this good, I would have changed my eating habits years ago. My most basic guideline is not to go over 150-160 carb grams a day.
Good luck to you and I hope you find what will help you have a healthy long life.
