I'd like some tips on packaging cakes & pkg. of about four cupcakes for a bake sale fund raiser. Don't really want to spend too much on packaging. I usually do loafs. Easy to pack. I would like to try something different this year.

Also say a pic of a cupcake in a shallow glass with a simple clear bag around the glass tied with a pretty ribbon. You could package a few that way and they would make a great little "just to cheer you up" gift for someone.
You can get glasses, or glass candle holders at the thrift store for about .10 c

Go to Walmart bakery dept and you can buy different sizes of cupcake plastic packaging. They are cheap if not sometimes free.

I did cookies and small loaves for our guild craft sale. Here is a 'sneaky' trick. I took my old iron and balanced it on its back (used piles of books on each side of it. I turned it on low and used the plate to 'seal' the plastic wrap. It worked perfectly. Just ran the loaves and the plates of cookies over the warm iron to seal the plastic.

My friend used to make birthday cakes and sell them, a trick I learned from her was to use cardboard boxes from the supermarket, cut a board the size of your cake(s) cover with foil. Place cakes on top of this, on another box that she would open up to the bare shape, cut the sides to just above the height of your cakes. Tape the corners, so that you have a custom sized box around your cakes, then seal the whole lot with plastic wrap.

Well the bake sale was a success, sold everything, but one loaf of white bread. So bought it myself. Ended up asking at the supermarket to sell me 6 cupcake containers. They gave them to me since it was for a club they support. I noticed cookies were the last things to sell. Seems busy mom's make cookies at home. Mini loafs & squares were first to sell.
