This recipe is over 100 years old. It's delicious. I bake loafs in the give away decorative heavy paper pans, put in clear bags with decorative tag. I've had some call and ask to order more. I gave them the recipe but won't bake for money. LOL

Pound Cake
Cream together one cup real butter and two cups sugar until light and creamy
Add six eggs one at a time. Mix after each addition.
Mix in two teaspoons of the best vanilla extract.
Add two cups all purpose flour a little at a time. Beat
until the batter is fluffy Not creamy, fluffy.
Bake at 350 about an hour or until pick comes out clean.
Butter needs to be room temp soft. Eggs need to be room temp.

I usually use a ten cup bundt pan for this cake or a pound cake two piece pan. One recipe will make two loaves of the disposable pans. Add this bundt pan with cake and it is one great hostess gift.

If the batter is pourable it isn't right It will be fluffy and thick like this on the beater bar. I have to spoon it in the pan. I sure took a lot of effort to make this decades ago without an electric mixer.

I am getting a new mixer for Christmas and I think this will be the first thing I make using it.
I remember my grandmother's pound cakes baked in her tube pan. The outside of the cake had a little crust (almost) on it and the inside of the cake almost melted in your mouth. What memories this cake brings back to me. Thank you for the recipe.

The sugar content is what make the crust on the outside. I made a lemon glaze for some. Poked holes in the cake and poured the lemon mixture on top of the cake.

Glaze
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1/4 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar (to taste)
combine the lemon juice and sugar and heat over low heat (or in the microwave) till the sugar is dissolved; don't let the mixture boil.
