here is a recipe that I have used for years
2 1/4 cups flour 1/4 cup sugar 2 heaping tablespoons baking powder dash salt 1/2 cup margarine 1 square 1 egg and milk to equal one cup mix together and roll to 1 inch thick. bake in a 400 degree oven for 18-20 minutes. you can roll out flat and make cinnamon buns I have given this recipe to many people |
i've made homemade biscuits for 47 yrs. southern girls use self rising flour, and the recipe used to be on the side of the sack. off the top of my head, i think it's 2 cups of flour, about a 1/4 cup of crisco, and milk added gradually, to get a good consistency. add a little more milk, and you can make drop biscuits. a little less and you can roll them out. stir as little as possible as you add the milk. 375 for about 10 minutes.
