This is really good. Not much ingredients to it. Has anyone had this candy before? A store where we used to live sold it years ago and they finally quit selling it. Waa Laa my sister found it online. Let me know what you think.

Oh my goodness - I used to make this as a kid 50 years ago and lost the recipe when I got married. We used to call it sponge candy. You can hardly find it anymore. You have truly made my day. Thank you for the recipe. Kathy B.

This sounds like peanut brittle....is it similar.
|
It's more "porous" than peanut brittle but the taste is similar. The baking soda causes a reaction that makes the mixture puff up and get fluffy like a sponge before it hardens. That was the fun part of making it (next to eating it).

I love peanut brittle and keep buying it, but it most usually hasn't foamed enough and is hard. Maybe I'll try this and pour it over peanuts.

This is the same a Crunchie chocolate bar. Do you have them in the US? We call it sponge toffe, too.

My bil said something about the sponge candy. I never knew what that was. Thanks for the insight. |
