Linnie, You asked about a good dessert for Christmas Dinner. We have had Cherry Cheesecake for years, and that is always their request. The 8 min. cheesecake is good and so easy. Failure-proof also. I usually make a cake also, as the little kids like that better than the cheesecake.Mariah

Since I have been there and done that for many years I will answer your question...YOU WILL GO ON DOING IT WITH HELP EVENTUALLY. I am 88 and everyone is helping, even the gang from Kansas City who came by air to CA, for 10 days. Their tickets were my gift to myself as I am recovering from broken ribs and a punctured lung from a fall in my own kitchen.

Christmas dinner here is roast goose, oven roasted potatoes and steamed asparagus.

Dear lord, you are a remarkable woman!!!

My mom is 89 and still thinks she has to be in the middle of it all....at somebody else's house, though. Her little apartment is way too small. I keep telling her it's time to let the younger generation (fifty and sixty year olds) have a turn to wait on HER, for a change (and being 70 next month I include my poor old body in that with her!) :)

I guess we're backwards, we had lasagna, salad and garlic bread for Thanksgiving. So we're having turkey and all the trimmings for Christmas. Oh and the pies, I love pie, forget the turkey just give me the pie!

My husband's sicilian family makes sfincione. That sounds like that thick dough (like pizza crust), thick sauce, breadcrumb/romano cheese mixture on top. They also put little pieces of anchovy into the dough.

That sounds like what dh's family called finjuna. Maybe his family 'Americanized' the spelling. . . but I bet it's the same thing!

Lots has changed in my family since my husband left and now my dd lives with him.

I am doing my best to keep Christmas traditions going for my ds.

We will have cheese fondue (prepackaged, yummy and not a lot of work) with bread, steamed veggies and sliced meats on Christmas Eve. I have invited some new people this year.

Christmas Day I have served brunch for many years. Ds has asked me to do that again this year. I have no idea who will be there, I have invited my dd and ex-husband. I make a variation on a wife saver with berries or apple cinnamon topping, served with thick sliced bacon and sausages. In the past there have been lots of extras, but this year, I have to watch the budget, so it will be a bit more basic.

DS and I have been invited to a friend's parent's home for Christmas Dinner. Not 100% sure if we will go yet.

Cant stand it I have to ask.......why the tradition of vegan for Christmas eve? I have never heard of that one.

I love reading about the traditional foods, the changing traditions, and the new things people ars trying. Thanks To all who are sharing them.

Since our older kids live out of the state, it is just the college kids and DH here---not as crazy as usual---and we miss it!
We will have glazed ham, cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, sweet potatoes, TONS of Christmas cookies for dessert. (maybe a cheesecake since I found a super recipe). Since I am still recovering from Achilles surgery, this must all be done on a scooter and will the kids helping.
Christmas eve has always been potato skins and shrimp cocktail...
