Green Bean Bundles

These are an all time favorite at my house!!

2-3 cans whole green beans, drained
Hickory smoked bacon slices cut in half
1 stick margarine, melted
1/2 c. brown sugar
garlic powder
toothpicks
Gather 8-10 green beans together in a bundle and wrap 1/2 slice bacon around it. secure with toothpick. Continue making bundles until all beans are wrapped. Place bundles in a 9x13 baking dish. Mix together margarine, brown sugar and garlic powder. pour mixture over the bundles and bake at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes., spooning liquid over beans several times while baking. These are great to take to parties, fellowships or family get togethers!!

Could these be cooked in pkgs as on coals? could be made ahead and taken to beach.

These are great even cold. So, I see no reason why they couldn't be made ahead of time. Everybody I know keeps going back after these hours later. I'm sure they could be grilled. But, you would have to keep hitting them with the sauce. The garlic and brown sugar is a good portion of the taste. Love'em.

Boy, those sound great! A friend of mine had them at a dinner at her sister-in-law's and raved about them. I can't wait to make them! Thanks for the recipe!

That sounds good! Being in Europe, how much is a stick margarine?

Have you ever tried it with fresh green beans, or would they need to be parboiled first?

A stick of margarine is a quarter pound...there are 4 quarters in each pound of butter or margarine ...I know you don't use pounds, either..but you can convert it.
