DHMommy ... ;looks like that might be a case of Good Dog, Bad Dog ... and only doing his job at protecting his/your turf!

I generally make a green tomato pie as a labor of love for my DH. I just use my favorite apple pie recipe. He enjoys it:) the color is much the same as apples in apple pie. I still prefer plan old apple, but it's not bad. I think if I were just served it without knowing it was tomatoes instead of apples I probably wouldn't know the difference. Good Luck with your green tomatoes!!:)

That's interesting, what kind of flavor do you get from the dehydrated tomatoes in your soup? I'm interest in the recipes as well, I've got a bunch of green ones and our weather forecast sounds like they will stay green.

They taste like tomatoes except a bit sharper, if that makes sense. Dehydrated red tomatoes are more mellow. With a rich broth, the green ones don't overwhelm the soup, they just add a fresh taste.

well all I have are green tomatoes! not kidding. I did. not. get. even. 1 ripe. tomato. this. year! so mad! green peppers were not much better. and don't get me started about the cukes or zucchini that USUALLY take over the yard. 6 or 7 of each was all they produced! lousy here. too much rain.

I so wish I had green tomatoes to fry up. Didn't plant any this year and can't seem to find any place that sells them. :(

Fried green tomatoes, mincemeat and relish are all I've ever made with green tomatoes. I used to grow lots of tomatoes. If you want them to ripen at basically the same time, put an apple in the box. The apple gives off a gas that helps the tomatoes ripen. I really works!!

I use the green tomatoes in my chow chow. It is a southern thing to use what is left in the garden in a sweet/pickled relish. My recipe came from better homes and gardens. It is cut up and left with a pickling salt overnight or for 8 hours. Rinsed and then the vinegar and spices are added, a water bath then it is done. Pretty easy, but, it takes awhile to make. If I didn't make it every year, my friends and family would throw a fit!
